Default My dad got two kittens today!

I'm so excited that I just have to share! He was surprised with divorce papers from my mom last week and has been in the dumps, of course. He misses the cats he has at home, and was toying with the idea of getting a kitten from his local HS. Last night, he and I discussed what to look for in the "right" kitten. Today, on his way home from golf, he was passing the HS, saw an "open" sign, and stopped! He walked into the kitten room, and two kittens came racing over to him, tails up! They were playing with him right away. Then he sat down, and they both curled up in his lap, purring away! My dad decided on one and went to do the paperwork. The volunteers said the two were littermates, and if he took them both, they'd give him a deal. Well, who can resist THAT? SO, he's now the proud adopter of two little girls! They are calico and white, and I can't wait for pics of them! I'm so excited that you'd think I was the one adopting them!

Yay for Dad! What a great idea-- kittens playing together are one of the cutest, most amusing sights in the world. Two furry little bundles of love will help his spirits, I predict!

Now, you know we need pictures...

PICTURES! I've never done Shutterfly, so this may be the wrong link:

My dad said they are so active that he can't get them to stop long enough to get a picture of their faces! He is already so thrilled with them! He's giving me a play by play and laughing! They're exploring everything and loving it!

I can't see the pictures. I'm not a member of Shutterfly.

I'm so happy for your dad, though! I love cats, and no matter what anyone tries to tell you, they're wonderful company and very affectionate. They're differently tuned than dogs, that's all.

I know what you mean about going in for one kitty and coming out with two. I went to the shelter/wildlife rescue to turn in an abandoned baby squirrel I'd found-- and came home with a dog!

JumpQH - what a fabulous Dad you have!! Not many dads would go looking for kittens, yet your special Dad comes home with two!

Please tell your Dad, for me, that I'm so proud of him for doing such a wonderful thing for these kittens and that I wish him so very many moments of joy with them over so many years.

You're lucky to have a Dad like this ... just saying.

Give him a hug from me, please.

Awwww, Lavender! You brought tears to my eyes! Thank you! Yes, he's a wonderful dad and I know I'm so lucky! I got to see him, only for an hour, last week, and I hugged him twice! I was so happy to see him! This whole divorce thing has thrown him for a loop, and I will tell him what you said! He's totally in love with these girls already and can't stop talking about them!

I joined and I'm still unable to see the kitties.

Remember, tell your dad he and the kitties already have a fan club here on COTH! That we're demand-- er, asking for pictures of the babies! And that he can always ask for advice on the Menagerie board (and post pictures)!

I'm so happy for your dad.

How wonderful, what a nice story.

Looks like a barrel of fun for anyone in his house.

While it is a terrible idea to fall for the "buy one, get one free" with puppies, as they learn to adapt best to the human world one at the time, with kittens, that is not important for bonding to humans as it is for dogs.

Getting both was a wonderful idea and probably get happier, more active cats than one kitten alone tends to be.

    Wishing all three the best.

You posted a link to a Shutterfly main page, instead of a link to individual pictures I've got an account with them, and when I sign in it takes me to MY albums page. Shutterfly isn't like Photobucket where you can post a link to an album *unless* you've made a sharable album which is another set of steps. I love that, actually, as it allows all my pictures to remain private even when I give a link to one of them, unless I choose to make others public and put them in a sharable album

That said - KITTENS!!! They are tortoiseshell, as opposed to calico They are beautiful!!! I'm so sorry your Dad is going through this (I'm sorry for you too!!) But 2 kittens, especially littermates is THE way to go. You can't get just 1, it's illegal

Oh, they're gorgeous! My own tortoiseshell, Evy, gives two paws up!

I agree about two kittens being better than one. Your dad is going to have so much fun with them. Good for him-- and he did such a wonderful thing for the kittens, too!

JB - thanks! I've never done the public photo thing, but photobucket made it easy!

My own tortie also gives two paws up! He's going to try getting better pics. They were just so active that he couldn't get a good picture! Thanks for the good wishes from everyone - very appreciated!

there's nothing like a couple of kittens to ease the soul.
how wonderful that in his pain he knew enough to reach out beyond himself.
your dad is a smart guy and they'll save him as much as he saved them.

in a year you'll need to post his singles ad here!
