My Shiba will watch certain things, like if it's a show with wolves or spitz breeds. He won't watch if there are other types of dogs.
I discovered that he absolutely loved a dreadful movie called "Snow Dogs" and would watch pretty much the entire thing.
MrB's parents' Boston terrier charges at the tv when certain commercials come on the air that have animals. They watch mostly the same few channels, and she's learned what music/jingles bring the animals.
When she stayed with us, animal planet and nat geo were off limits. Dog would go nuts.
My first Aussie was like this! She would hear the music for certain commercials that she knew had animals in it and come running from another room to bark and attack the TV.
It took months after she died for Hubby and I to stop grabbing the remote to change channels

I only had that problem when we first adopted our Walker Coonhound, who obviously had never stepped foot inside a house before. (We actually had to half-lift/half-drag her across the doorstep.
My husband had just bought me the full dvd set of the old British tv series "All Creatures Great and Small", & I popped one in to watch, only to see that at the first moos, baas, barks, etc., etc., "P.D." ("Poochie Dog") went absolutely berserk & raced around & around the tv, effectively pulling all the wiring out of everything. Sigh. It was months before I was able to finally watch those dvds.
