Oppan is the korean word for either big brother or boyfriend (kinda creepy the two mean the same) and "Gangnam Style" means the boyfriend is wealthy and a party-guy because the Gangnam area of Korea is like party central for wealthy young people.
There's another version with the red haired girl from the main video doing the singing in a really high pitched squeaky voice. The voice is a parody of how the Gangnam girls speak...kinda like "Valley speak" here back in the 80s.
Both videos are making fun of the wealthy, spoiled folks in Gangnam. The guy, Psy, had no idea it would go viral. He made the videos for fun. The dancing makes me laugh...absolutely hilarious! He said it's "like riding a horse, but without the horse" and also making fun of the Gangnam crowd, only the very wealthy there have horses.
You jump in the saddle,
Hold onto the bridle!
Jump in the line!
Nothing horse related, but he just makes you feel a bit better about your daily commute. lol.
I'll be going to South Korea NEXT WEEK! (sorry i'm excited) and will be hopefully getting in some trail riding in Jeju-do. (Island off the south of SK). Can't wait to get my city slicker friend on a horse. lol. And the island is gorgeous... http://aphs.worldnomads.com/amy_palf...0853/jeju2.jpg
And they have some type of horse park. lol. Yup i will be visiting.
