Default Atlanta area boarding barn needed

I'm relocating to Atlanta at the end of the month and looking for a boarding barn for my gelding. I will potentially have a second horse later this winter too.

I will be living in Midtown/Old Fourth Ward and working in Smyrna. I've accepted the fact I will be living in my car and always stuck in traffic. Hoping to keep the barn within an hour of the city.

Barn wise, I am just looking for safe, not fancy. A ring with decent footing and turnout are a must. Also a barn that understands how to feed a 17 hand TB (willing to pay extra for more hay/grain). I would prefer to not be tied in with a trainer, since I am hoping to trailer out for lessons etc. Both my horses are very easy to handle, although my gelding does crib, but controlled 100% with a collar (which he always wears). I would like to keep the board under 500, closer to 400 would be even better.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I know nothing about these personally but have heard of The Hunt Club, Sterling and Westbrooke. Maybe a starting point. Hopefully others will chime in but these at lease are in Smryna and surrounding area. Depending upon niceness of facility, you may find it hard to get full board in the Atlanta area for under $600 which I believe is the current going rate. Chocomare on here lives out Dallas way and it might be worth PMing her if she doesn't post in this thread as she may know of someone to recommend.

Stay away from GB's stable in Smyrna.

I don't think Sterling is taking boarders anymore.

2 openings here: http://www.ponytailacres.org/ - Nice place, great folks. Worth the wee bit of commute to Powder Springs.

I have room at Flat Creek. Board 375.00 just hosted an ACTHA ride for a trail rider and old time event and combined training center. 45 mins south of the airport just off I85

Did you end up finding a place to board?
