FTGH...3 yo Welsh X Appendix QH gelding (Central NY)
We have made the difficult decision to rehome our 3 yo Welsh X TB/QH gelding (reg. Half-Welsh). He is very sweet and kid friendly but has NOT been started under saddle. Approximately 13.2 (can throw a stick on him to be sure).
Two months ago he injured himself, at the time both myself and vet suspected an abcess, however over the next month he began to lose muscle tone in his shoulder. Diagnosis is "Sweeney Shoulder". He is comfortable but short strided due to lack of muscle. Ideally, he should have surgery to decompress the nerve causing the muscle loss. Intensive physical therapy is another option. However, for the best chance of a full recovery, surgery is recommended within 4 months of injury. We do not have the time or resources right now. We are hoping someone out there may want a project. He has been well handled and shown lightly as a yearling (was 2010 WPCSA Reserve Champion Half-welsh colt/gelding 2yo & under in the Northeast).
He is in absolutely NO danger here. We are happy to keep him but thought we would put him out there in case the perfect home can be found, preferably someone who will do the surgery. References and contract required. We just want this guy to have the best life that he can.
