Seriously, though, what on earth could leave those marks? A horse running through brambles for half a day with no one in the saddle?

Yeah, wow. I'm not sure it's even worth it in that condition. What HAPPENED to that saddle? I'd be concerned it did damage to the tree?! It looks like it fell off the back of a truck!?

The scratches all look pretty superficial to me...but there could be more unseen damage. What a shame!!

Such a shame, but what also piques my curiosity is the lack of info on the saddle, flap length, seat style..... I wonder if the horse go loose with the saddle on..... Maybe I'll call.....

I'm going to second this guess. I've seen cats perched on saddles tack rooms just kneading their paws and claws into saddles. NOT good.

Re: Any Hermes saddle. Not that I'm saying you should buy one in awful condition but, you can send any Hermes saddle back to Paris where Hermes will repair the saddle for of course $$$.

Each saddle # is recorded in a book, along with the date made, and the names of those who made that saddle. (And now on line, you can trace your saddle back to the year it was made. Well, I got a nice guy at a saddle shop to find out when mine were made.) I've never had to have mine repaired. But they will add blocks, etc., for $$$.

So maybe a cheap Hermes, with a good tree, is worth the repair cost.

Which is why I keep a pad on top of my saddle.
    And nothing bad happened!

I'll guess it's the metal stirrup pads--- those grated ones left marks on my saddle when I would push them up and over while I was cleaning the flaps.......

I had a saddle cover, a sheepskin pad, and a pad on both of the saddles. The damn thing knocked everything off. This is why I'm a dog person
