Default This horse's appearance actually shocked me...

...I looked at the monitor, slackjawed, for a full minute....
    What on earth???
Beautiful, yet positively arresting....looks like a horse, yet almost prehistoric, and somehow, has a....
    human countenance???

After that mind-swirling minute, I decided he was magnificent

I think he is magnificent too, not to my taste though, but interesting.

In a weird way he kind of reminds me of the Avater horses I like him, he looks noble for sure!

I'll be the dissenter. Personally, I think he is butt ugly. Cremellos just creep me out with those pale blue eyes and that big ol' Roman nose just says jughead to me.

Do they all have this profile? Is this a breed standard/goal or is it extreme even for the breed?

    Agree he's stunning in a non-conventional way

I like a traditional Lusitano head...and he has one.

But I'm not a fan of the coloring...

He'd be gorgeous in a darker color, IMO.

Me too! ha ha I've been following the career of a racing Thoroughbred that I met at Finger Lakes. His nickname is "Camel Face". He's endearing to me.

    Nope, eww.

I do like a Roman nose but that color is too much.

Have to agree with your post. I don't mind a slight Roman nose, but that is just a little to exaggerated for my taste. I can live without that color, although if he was a golden palomino or a grey, I might could overlook the nose. That skin color is prone to some serious burns and after owning two light skinned horses, I swore that would be the last time I had anything but dark skinned. One of my light skinned horses actually had to be put down due to a SCC cancer.

It's kind of surprising that so many of you like the Roman nose. I was always taught that a Roman nose was a sign of a cold blooded horse, a jughead and one that lacked sensitivity and intelligence. Probably all old cowboys' tales but I just can't overcome my prejudice.

I would have a vet check horses like that out for Millers disease.
His head looks deformed like those can be.

Maybe there is a genetic mutation that produces similar looks, like hypothyroidism in neapolitan mastiffs giving them wrinkles, that tend to disappear if you treat them for it?
