Default Help solve a murder at Trader's Point showgrounds

The Traders Point Hunt needs your help solving a mystery.

Compete in teams up to 10 in the game of Clue on horseback. Ride over the scenic hunt grounds of Traders Point at Wild Air Farms(and the grounds of the Traders Point A horse show) while attempting to solve the mystery. Was it the groom in the tack room with the whip?

You will ride over open fields, hills, heavily wooded narrow trails, and water crossings at whatever speed you chose. If you get an answer wrong you have to leave your checkpoint and come back to it later. You may jump the hunt fences or go around them. Some teams gallop from checkpoint to checkpoint, others are more sedate. Any tack is appropriate but helmets are required.

Your horse should go well in a group and be ok with horses cantering hither and yon and fit enough to be out for about 2 hours.

If you don't have enough members for a team or are not familar with the grounds you will be grouped with other participants so never fear.

Over 70 riders showed up for last year's ride.

    Labor Day Murder Mystery Ride
    Monday sept, 3rd 10am
Registration begins at 9:00am, instructions at 9:45, game begins at 10am.

Park on the showgrounds of Traders Point.

$30 per person, a good lunch is provided.

    Prize to the winning team

All riders welcome, helmet and signed release required.

I wonder if I can borrow an FFI horse ...I wouldn't bring my own all the way down there but that place is just GORGEOUS! I was there last weekend (or before?) for the Charity HOrse Show and I've decided I may want to move to Zionsville just to be close .

    Are you riding ejr?

    I am riding!

I'm banking on having a slightly more suitable horse this year. The horse I had last year was good jumping, good cantering, and good on trail rides but the sight of 70 horses taking off in different directions blew her little brain.

She spent most of the time jigging sideways and didn't stand still once!

We were one of the slower groups last year, mostly walking with periods of trotting and a couple canters but we came in second so speed isn't a factor in "winning" but might be a factor in how much fun you have. A few people switched to slower or faster groups.

    The property is enormous.

Oh yeah....70 horses would be a sight! I really want to go. Do you have to jump? My little Arab would be great but she doesn't jump. Not to mention I only started jumping this spring.....and have only done so in an arena *blush*

You do not have to jump a single fence, all the fences you will meet you can go around easily.

If you bring your arab you must be on my team, my friend and I are on arabs and if another friend who is a hunt member joins us she will also be on an arab.

Okay...now that sounds like a blast! Let me see if I can work it out on short notice. If not this year, will they have it again next year? This is the first I've ever heard of it.

    Question to the OP

Gotta know your secret. How did you get permission to post a free ad for an event on the h/j forum ? Does the event benefit a charity or ?

I thought we had to pay for event ads on the "Events" forum.

I know! Every time I see this thread, my heart skips a beat. Then I go 'oh, Clue on horseback'.

I'm sure it's a lot of fun, but this title gives me the willies.

The facebook link isn't working Can you send me the information with address? It sounds like sooooooo much fun but want to see exactly how long the drive would be. Plus we would only have one or two horses

It's a blast! We did it last year. My friends husband rode her foxhunter in his western saddle and we rode our endurance Arabs. It was a ton of fun and the tie breakers were hilarious!

You don't have to take a single fence the whole day of you don't want to.

I would encourage anyone with a trail broke horse to come!

You would take I65 north to st. road 334 each, right on 334 to kissel road south. Right on kissel road to hunt road west. Right on hunt road to Wild Air Farms.

Wild Air farms is the huntclub's barn and their address is

    7400 Hunt Club Road
    Zionsville, IN 46077
    (317) 873-5552

If you don't have enough for a team let them know and they'll group you with someone appropriate.
