Default My new girl! (Not looking for critiques-just bragging)

I went horse shopping in Florida last week, and I am very excited about my purchase!

It's been a very rough week since getting home, so I'm just looking to brag and show off my new 2 year old Trakehner, not looking for critiques.

She's by Oskar *Pg* out of a 3/4 TB mare, from a fellow COTHer's breeding program. I wanted a young horse to bring along behind my TB and she's the one who caught my attention and I've been watching grow for a year and a half or two years. I love all the Oskars I've met, and obviously see the TB blood as a plus.

I love that I got to see her at her gawkiest, skinniest, geekiest stage and she still looks good and can MOVE.

I got to meet two full siblings and ride her very green full sister who her breeder is keeping. I'm not riding my best as I'm recovering from a sprained back - my seat is too restrictive and not controlled like I want it to be - and this green girl who had only ever had her trainer and owner on her just flicked her ears back and forth trying to figure me out with no agitation, and willingly went along like some old packer. Ellie will be higher energy than her sister, but that kind of trainability and attitude has been present in all siblings and half siblings from the mare.

She's coming home in October most likely (the barn getting destroyed by a freak storm an hour after I got home may change that plan slightly), because I didn't want to ship her across the country while it's so hot, even though I'm impatient to have her here!

I will happily take advice on shippers to use! She'll be coming from maybe 10 minutes off I-10 in the Florida panhandle and we are less than 10 minutes off I-10 in Tucson, so a straight shot.

I love Trakehners and hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine! She looks lovely...even at the 2 year old stage. My horse was downright hideous at that age but gorgeous by age 6.

Thanks everyone - She hit every item on my checklist of what I wanted, and I expected there to be some compromising somewhere having to happen of all the wished-for items!

She seems like she'll have the more alert TB-type temperament with not much spook, I absolutely ADORE her hind end use, natural thrust and a back which naturally moves. I don't need the HUGE suspension so many other people look for but she has plenty on her own, naturally tracks up very easily at the trot, even when doing the bouncy play canter still a nice three beat - just naturally shortens it up and sits a bit when turning, rather than going from gallop to antelope. And she's probably going to be a little smaller than my current guy, which I see as a HUGE plus. Her dam's 15.2, and I'm hoping she tops out at 16.1, but won't be surprised if it's 16.2.

I got some video of her when she was just moving for fun instead of in reaction to us asking her to, and she dropped her head, lifted in her shoulders, and floated with the most lovely mobile back. She was also in grass too tall to have any good images from it. But that desire to soften and relax her body is just a huge plus, and one I felt when riding her sister.

Oh! I failed to say her registered name/breeder, didn't I?

Her name's Emerald Ice, and she's from Emerald Acres. I really appreciate her breeder with a small but intelligent program, and she really listens to potential buyers to make the right matches.

Can't see the pics at work for some reason, but just wanted to say congrats. I have a Trak mare by Advocate with a TB dam, and I love her! She's got an unbelievable work ethic. I'm biased and have limited experience since she's my first Trakehner, though But good luck and enjoy your new girl!
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

So pretty! Congrats and good luck with her!. My boy is a 4 y.o. Trak gelding by Tycoon out of a Schoenfeld/TB mare. He's a big puppy dog. He was exactly what I was looking for personality wise, just greener than I thought I wanted. But I was so impressed with his work ethic and movement that I could overlook the greenness. I've been posting all about him on the baby/green horse thread.

GreyStreet, I think I'm biased just like you since he's my first Trak too!

This company should be able to help you. ^^
I used Creech once, Lexington KY to central Florida; they did a nice job.
