Ok, I'm trying to ship my mare back to Canada. I've been in the US for 2 years, and she was "exported" with me from Canada and has also been in the US for 2 years. Now I'm posted back to Canada and want to take her with me. I have a shipper and the vet health certs and everything.
But I'm confused as hell about the broker paperwork. The shipper said I need a broker to handle customs, and suggested Livingstone Intl. I need to fill out a Canadian Customs Invoice, but...those seem made for purchasing horses (well, all kinds of "goods" really). There's spaces for vendor, purchaser, originator, etc. I'm just trying to get my own property back across the border!
That is a good question. I would ask the Broker as I am sure they have dealt with that previously. I actually would not think you would need a broker if you can prove you have owned the horse the entire time, but would hate to have the horse held at the boarder.
