Default Can someone help match this mare with a hunter stallion?

    Hello All,

A friend of mine has started to think about breeding her TB mare and wasn't sure what stallion would be most compatible with the mare. I've done some research to try and help out and have come to the conclusion that I do not know as much as I should about stallions and figured I would ask the people of COTH if they could help out.

The mare is a sweet, but opinionated, TB who has fantastic hunter movement and jumps in good style, but lacks a solid hind end. If anyone can recommend some cool, calm stallions with a killer hind end it would be much appreciated.

    Some pictures of her

    How about Escapade?

    He's dreamy. http://www.barringtonhill.com/escapade-info.html

His babies tend to have great brains too.

    Default Cabardino

I bred a fine boned tb mare to Cabardino with the I intent to sell him. Ha! Can't decide which I love more, his beauty, movement or disposition. Time will tell if he has his daddy's freaky good jump

Small sample size but the ones I've come across have been HOT and a little unruly as youngsters. Not necessarily something they didn't grow out of, but he's not the stallion that comes to mind when I think "quiet down an opinionated mare."

The Westporte offspring seem to be quiet and talented. Fabuleux gives a great canter and the mare seems to have a nice trot, and he quiets them down. I've liked the Cabardinos I've seen and they seem to be quiet. If he's still available and you don't mind smaller-- Jupiter. He may not be available anymore.

I have known several Escapade babies who were lovely to handle and grew into just as lovely young adults.

My client has two Escapades-a pony and a 3 year old. Both are easy as pie and totally born broke. The pony learned how to jump a course with a lead change in one 30 minute lesson.

Have her check out our stallion Amazing also...he is super laid back, has the trademark Balou strong hind end, and is doing well at Hunter shows. He was Reserve his first time out in the Pregreens at a AA show against some top notch horses.

I have an Escapade mare who is anything but hot. In fact, I'd more so describe her as a deadhead... Very easy peasy. Her picture is my profile pic.

Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of grown up Artragous offspring? Are there any out competing?

I drool over the Amazing babies I see, and I'm in love with his bloodlines for a nice jump. I also really like all the Roc USA's I've seen, but I haven't been watching their hind ends too closely.

I highly recommend A Fine Romance. He sires beautiful offspring that are athletic and amateur-friendly. I have watched him for years and HE WOULD BE MY PICK!

I know of a very nice filly by him, would say she is a bit sensitive. Not hot or spooky or anything, but just sensitive to what the handler is doing at all times. Shes out of a very quiet mare so I'm going to assume its coming from the sire's end.

I can send you her sales page if you want to see her confirmation and video, just pm me.
