Default New Science Study: Your Trusty Horse Could Care Less About Show Audiences

One less thing for you to worry about at a show.

    http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=20444

    Excerpt:

Does simply the thought of competing or riding in front of a crowd of people cause your heart to race and stress to set in? You're probably not alone. But rest assured: Even if you're feeling a little weak in the knees from all those eyes watching you, your trusty steed probably isn't. Equitation scientists recently learned that audiences, large or small, have little to no effect on experienced horses' stress levels.
"No matter how well you perform there's always somebody of intelligent opinion who thinks it's lousy." - Laurence Olivier

    Great news!

Now all I have to worry about is finding an experienced horse.
My horse is a "Hare-Brained Controvert".

Maybe not, but I have one that loves a crowd. Went to a little county fair last year- there were people packed in the stands and all around the rail picking a favorite and cheering them on, an absolutely wonderful crowd. My little mare marched in, did the ear swivel thing, eyeballed the crowd, and really turned into a show horse. She was loving every bit of it!

I just skimmed the article, but it says that they used 8 seasoned, experienced, classically trained horses as their test subjects.

If course they are used to having an audience.
