Very happy to announce that we have purchased three Connemara weanlings from Ireland, they will be here in September!

All three have top jumping and performance lines.

TBS Declan Pondi (Dexter Leam Pondi x Dandy Sparrow x Ashfield Bobby Sparrow). Dun (buckskin) to go grey colt. Declan's sire, Dexter Leam Pondi is a top Grade A show jumping pony. He has gone to numerous championships, and has many offspring that are Grade A as well.

Maudlin's Miss America (Cheeky Bobby Sparrow x Moytura Blaithin x Ashfield Festy). Grey filly. This filly's pedigree is full of Grade A show jumping ponies.

Ruby King Sparrow (Glencarrig Knight (Janus x Coosheen Breeze) x Sienna Dusky Sparrow). Grey from bay colt. His sire, grandsire, and granddam have all won on the line. His paternal granddam has produced numerous Class 1 stallions. His maternal side is full of performance ponies.

We are very excited about these three foals, we will keep you posted when they arrive!

Yes, very! I'm thrilled that she's learning how to freeze, and hope that she'll start getting some of the Irish to freeze their stallions. I really want to have her send some frozen over on her stallion, Killaloe Buachaill Mor, he's something special!

I'm sure you'll find one when you go next year...and maybe I can stick another in a box and send it over with yours! Start contacting folks that stand nice dun stallions that you like, have them keep tabs on any cremello or perlino foals. Hopefully you can nab a nice colt before he's gelded!

Speaking of Dun's, the guy that owns Gwenic de Goariva is really nice to talk to and love his stallion. I do know of a dun out of a Westside Mirah mare. Only 2 now. The mare also had a bay filly foal this year by the same stallion. I do not own any of these. I break most of the ponies for the guy that owns them.

<smile>..Yup...that's part of the plan when we go over in September. We'll be working with her on several things, freezing being one of them. Her boy is definitely one worth watching!

fwiw I looked for 6 months straight for a larger bodied Connemara here in the US that was 3+ and ready to go, couldn't even find one. The couple I did find were very expensive, and no one out of state would/could provide me with video.

It's a weird market for sure.

It's a weird market for sure.

I feel like two of the first things we lose in the breed is big body/chest/depth and bone. We have a lot of ponies here with a lot of the TB behind them (Little Heaven and Winte), and I think that often comes out. I saw a lot of BIG ponies, that were still pony height, in Ireland. I hope all three that we bring over will be great contributors of proper Connemara characteristics, as well as great performers!

I have 14.2HH ponies that look like mac trucks standing next to other US bred Connemaras--and all are well within the International Breed Standard for height (148cms). What this country truly lacks is a quality mare base (which places like Denmark/Sweden/Ireland and the UK have in Spades)--we have an over abundance of under qualified colt/stallion prospects (nearly every breeder has one or more standing in the back yard) and not enough high quality broodmares. That being said I have not found that the foundation (limb quality of most imported ponies) to be outstanding--many I have seen in person are not as good as some of the TB US bred lines--what were your thoughts on this while looking?

I am happy you found your lovely girl, but I know of several really nice, larger bodied ponies that are mostly of imported blood....

So they are out there....
