    Default Yeesh CL Ads

The horses aren't in horrible condition, maybe slightly underweight. What really got me (multiple ads/different horses but same seller) was the "not sure which stallion was the sire" sentence in some of the ads...

I would be more worried about the meat man than horse dealers.

"Can jump like crazy. Jumped 4.5 foot fence 2 weeks ago when the vet was gelding his pasture mate. " (from 5th ad)

    Yeesh is right.....poor ponies

They all look sad, especially the gelding in ad 3. I want to give him a hug, a brushing, and a treat. They need some good food and some serious grooming (among other things). Hope at least some of them get a soft landing and a new life.

It really torques me when people won't sell the horse with papers. Love the quote "Reason is that we want to be sure you are not after the horse just for his papers." Yah, right. I'm pretty sure there are no papers because you never registered him and you don't know who his sire is or his situation otherwise won't pass muster with AHA.

Ditto for the one that needs a mane sample to register.

    Sloppy, backyard, inexcusable.

Naming a horse "Blackey" == horrible horse owner. Every time.

A different horse is featured everyday.

Answer: Take the economy, the drought, marital disaster, health problems, and you get a situation where sometimes things happen in life which put a sudden and surprisingly unexpected urgency to sell your horses at a very low price just to find them good homes quickly.

A value, or "worth" can be variable, depending on who is calculating it. Given the fact that his mom sold for $8000, and given the fact that he can jump, given the probability that if he was purchased by someone who knew the parents' breeding lines - and if the seller could hold out for a long enough time, waiting to get her price, and was able to show him around at some horse shows (with proper weight on him), and also market him in lots of hunter-jumper magazines and sites, someone looking for a hunter jumper prospect to train might drive from Pennsylvania even with a horse trailer, just to buy him - sight unseen - for $5000.

That's how he is worth $5000.
    --------------------------------------

    Conditions:
    * Permanent Home
    * He can be registered, if you choose. However, you will need to send in mane samples to determine sire. (Be sure to ask for the mane samples, if interested.) (As we are not sure which stallion was the sire.

After reading this I realize COTHers do not price their horses correctly. Apparently the what ifs are more important than actual show experience, quality of breeding, and registration.

I REALLY like the gelding in the 3rd ad. Not sure why, just a feeling that he is going to make someone a really nice horse. They all look fairly sweet and gentle, just ignored. Let's hope they go on from here to great homes...

I do too. And I'm a sucker for black, so if the pintabian had better pictures...

They're both in my area, but a little bit too small for my tastes.

Well at least they gelded them before putting them up on CL. Looks like they were all gelded recently too, perhaps in preparation to sell them?

That puts the person one notch above all the others dumping their stallion "prospects".

    Those ads were pitiful.

What I can't understand is the pictures. In this day and age, when one can take dozens of pictures with a cell phone and not have to pay to get them developed, why can't you get a picture that shows at least one body part clearly? Why do you publish the one where the horse is completely turned away from the camera?

Should not have looked at the ads. Hubby would freaken kill me. I have taken in too many (7) unwanteds. Frustrating as there is just no end in sight to this. The hay shortage is not helping and already too many horses looking like this. It is going to be a tuff winter for a lot of livestock.

I emailed asking for better pictures of the pintabian and apparently the person posting the ads isn't the actual owner, but is helping the owner "market" the horses.

Supposedly the owner will be getting different pictures of the pintabian...
