My friend breeds Friesians and crosses they sell as foals or pre. She has added Irish Draught Sport Horses to what she offers and we were expecting them to not sell till undersaddle at 4. Instead she has sold all but one of the ISH as yearlings but one...the nicest and the highest priced. The ISH were also nearly all fillies and chestnut to boot. They were very nice out of warmbloods and TB and a few stock mares. She sells in the $4,500 to 8K for the youngsters(foals to yearlings) a lot of traffic. There are older started horses with an active market as well but it is two seperate markets. In the foals color and flash help of course...one black leopard Friesian cross filly could be sold a dozen times. The ISH yearlings with lots of white sold first. People seem to want something fun. The leopard filly IS lots of fun. It helps that she is very very nice as well. In the undersaddle horses they want a very good minded horse with a solid start. PatO

Results for the OL/OS Foal Auction.

Saw a post on FB that it was "record low prices" for that auction. I'm not sure how accurate that statement was or how the prices reflect the quality (or lack thereof)...but there you have the results.

I've sold 8 horses this year, including 4 of my 2012 foals. Last year and the year before were dismal for horse sales, so I'm feeling much more optomistic for the future
