I wish I had seen him. I have seen pictures of Trigger visiting kids in hospital rooms! I remember Misty going to libraries..those were the days!

Is this why every girl dreams about Palominos? He is pretty!

    Where is Buttermilk??

I sent this to my mom, who was a fan of Champion (Gene Autry), Trigger, Rin Tin Tin..etc

Her fave cowboy was Hopalong Cassidy. His horse was Topper.

We had a thread on the white horses like Topper, there was a breeding farm that produced those horses. They are a Morgan cross.

Trigger was very pretty, so old style now!

He & Dale were genuinely good people. Walked the walk.

Even though Roy started in Ohio, as a shoe salesman IIRC, and Dale was a big band singer.
They lived the Life Western for sure.

A friend worked on the NYT and filched me a pic from their archives of Roy in a hotel room with Trigger, both on the floor, with Trig pulling a blanket over them.
What an unflappable horse he must have been

Never saw Roy and Trigger; did see Gene Autry and Champion when I was about 6 or 7.

One of Roy's adopted daughters wrote about riding Trigger down to the neighborhood store. She made IIRC mayonnaise sandwiches which they both shared. He was obviously a good family ride as well as a super star.

I can't think of any comparable horse stars now, but you certainly wouldn't ride such a recognizable horse around the neighborhood and park him outside of the store today.

And this is why I had to buy a Palomino for the husband.
