    Default Portable fence chargers

Ok I need to replace my Zareba Yellow Jacket fence charger for horse camping. This is the second one that I've managed to kill.

I do not have a never ending cash supply so I am limited by cost.

    Was looking at the following:

Anyone have any experience with this charger?

    Was also eyeballing this one:

    Any thoughts? Opinions? Etc?

Need to get one on order soon.

I use one from KV Vet - its a small green one, uses 2 D batteries. Very small and doesn't take up a lot of room in the trailer. I think it's around $80

I have a red snapper, can use 6 or 12 volt battery with it. Used it a whole summer out in the bush, no problems. I did make sure it was grounded on a rod though.

I don't have an unlimited supply of cash either. Manure .. that's a different story ...

here's the unit we've used for the last three years. A bit bigger but always ready. I leave it in the shop facing a window. Not full sun, but enough to keep the charge on the battery. When in use, will operate indefinitely like ... weeks at a time. (if faced into the full sun) get it for $100 on sale at tractor supply & other places

When in use, I either lay it on the ground sidways or mount it on a post or lay it on a plastic bucket. I connect it to the fence and ground rod with ordinary wire with alligator clips... keeping the wires separated by air gaps.

    I have this one
I really like how easy it is to use and it definitely delivers a shock
