Who would you use to start your youngstock in KY? I have a very athletic young horse who I recently bought who has not had much handling or groundwork. Would like to send him out for starting for 30 days or so then bring him home to continue his education. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
I would not look for a dressage trainer, I would be getting referrals for a cowboy/NH type that uses sound methods (a Roddy Strang type). But to send a horse with little handling for 30 days is very unrealistic, most of your competent people won't take a horse for only 30 days. Craigslist can be scary but that is a good place to start to at least get some names of people to interview. Contact the local breeding farms and see who starts their horses.
Wendy Douglas. For the area, she's is simply the best.
Kelly It is rare to see a rider who is truly passionate about the horse and his training, taking a profound interest in dressage with self-abnegation, and making this extraordinarily subtle work one of the dominant motivations of his life.\"
