    Default Ceiling fans-which direction?

Is it counter clockwise for summer or winter? I put one in each bedroom, the living and dining rooms already had them. What a difference! But the ones I put in the bedroom turn counter clockwise and the old ones have always turned clockwise. Theres a switch on the lower unit of the fans, but my installation directions don't even mention it.

There's a difference? I always thought that was just for personal preference.

The direction of rotation will depend on the pitch of the blades. It varies, even among a given manufacturer's product lines.

I set mine so the airflow is downward in the summer and the few times I use them in the winter, the airflow is upward.

Either direction, the fan moves air from the ceiling to the floor. The difference is the "perceived" air flow on a person. Fan pitched down, a person feels the air. Fan pitched up, the air flows down along the walls of the room, person feels low if any air movement.

I always though it was supposed to blow down in the summer and pull up in the winter, but I have never actually switched mine. I like to feel a breeze, so I keep it blowing down.
