Another CANTER TB, opinons requested
I know I have been pestering my fellow COTH'ers a lot lately, but I was hoping everyone wouldn't mind putting in their two cents on this young guy: http://canterusa.org/index.php?optio...ainer-listings.
I've heard he has a good brain and is fairly unflappable. Looking for a local h/j type for a resale project. Not looking to make my millions, just have the time to restart one right now and have a possible barter situation on board which allows me the finances.
Opinions, let's have 'em! (PS thanks everyone )

Beyond cute and flashy, no. Very long sloped front pasterns, long back, straight shoulder. Nothing looks athletic or balanced to me but should be fine as a "riding" horse.

Thanks, I don't need high level quality but definitely looking for something that will be successful as more than a "riding" horse.
Appreciate it!

Looks good. Looking at Thoroughbred Pedigree he was sold as a yearling at Keenland for $22,000 and the next year as a 2 yr old for $150,000. Great breeding but didn't show in racing. 29 starts with 2 wins, 1 place and 5 shows, and earning about $38,000 says lets be a show horse instead.
Good luck

I would go see him if possible...
He looks like a good guy, nice eye and solid...
I thought his pasterns were long in front too, but pictures can be misleading...

In that first pic he looks a ton like a confo pic I took of my old Junior Jumper during his retirement: http://pets.webshots.com/photo/27475...53911905ZXyPCY
That horse was extremely athletic, though a bit bigger (16.2ish). This prospect has a nicer head and coloring. I'd go look.

His pasterns are fine....just toes are a bit long and that is making them look longer.
Go look at him in person.

I don't think his back is overly long and his pasterns look more like a trim is needed.
He has a large shoulder and hip which may suggest he has more growing and filling out to do . 4 is a hard age to judge because they can always me in the middle of a horrible growth spurt. If that's the case NOTHING will look proportionate.
If you don't have dreams of your next HIGH performance hunter you have nothing to loose to go look at him.

I too think his pastern angle will change once his toes are backed up. He looks like a good guy. I would definately go see him in person.

I'm envisioning him being a local kid's hunter horse, i.e. the most expected out of him will ever be 3'. Thinking more competetive schooling shows, pleasure horse, low children's hunter kind of guy.

Just as a VERY general comment, I think bigger (i.e 16.2+) is easier to sell than 15.3ish.

Why dont you make the trip to Grantville and look over the oodles of horses at New Vocations. The barn is only 3 miles off exit 80/rt. 81, plus an indoor, to accomodate every schedule.
PM me if you'd like more information.

You can take a line and say it isn't straight- but that won't change its shape. Jets to Brazil
