Rustbreeches, fear not the low rise! I can tell you that living 50+ years may not add pounds, but things definitely shift around. There is a good reason why you don't see many women of a certain age with their shirts tucked in.
The answer to this dilemma is low rise breeches. They aren't plumber's butt hip huggers! All the ones I have tried on hit just below the waist. They are a boon to mature figures. You will love them.
I have tried on and loved the fit of Pikeur Ciara, but bought the Ovation celebrity instead because of the price difference.

So the breeches thing didn;t happen. I seriously tried on around 20 pairs, but nothing was good enough to make me want it. Then, as I was headed to the tack area I saw some Tuff Riders front zip, knee patch in a chocolate brown. They were actually a little high waisted, but were super comfy and felt very loose.
I was actually less than thrilled with the service I got today, and will continue the quest for show breeches in VA, but at least I got some to school in.
I actually broke down and bought half chaps, too!. Never had a pair before, when I showed you wore breeches and boots, or jeans and full chaps.
I learned everything I know from a chestnut mare so don't even try me.

The website is a little tricky to negotiate, be patient.
Horse Country's store website is www.horsecountrycarrot.com and is very easy to navigate.

my problem with the TS, any style, is that they are not made to fit large calves. I received multiple recommendations for them b/c I am curvy lady, but I try them on and they wont go over my calves.
I'll admit, my calves are giant (even when Im not considered a curvy girl), so this is where my problem lies.

I can so relate. I hate trying on pants, and breeches even more. But I have to tell you I Love half chaps....and this spring I switched to the Tredstep extreme suede chaps and TS Giotto boots and I LOVE them both. I can't keep my daughter who doesn't even ride, out of my paddock boots - they are THAT comfortable. I don;t think you could show in the suede chaps but their leather chaps are beautiful with the boots.

This is true. I have 13" calves but considered curvy up top
It would be great if TS would offer sock sleeves like the Ovations instead of velcro, but still offer velcro for those that like it.
Don't saw on your horses mouth it's not a piece of wood!
