Default Is Dover Saddlery really opening a Raleigh, NC location?!

I heard today that Dover Saddlery is coming to the Triangle NC area. I have tried googling but couldn't find any details. I would love to learn more!

According to multiple sources I've talked to...YES! Details to come eventually, I guess.
Flip a coin. It's not what side lands that matters, but what side you were hoping for when the coin was still in the air.

You call it boxed wine. I call it carboardeaux.

There must be a lot of Yankees here by now if Dover wants to move here!

Anyone hear where it might go? I thought I saw on Facebook somewhere that Brier Creek is a possibility. I have never been to a Dover store but have ordered from them. Are their stores usually "stand alone" or do they locate them in busy shopping centers?

It would be nice if Dover came on here like Smart Pak has.

Oh that would be wonderful!!! Do the Dover Saddlery stores reflect the sale prices online?

The recent Fools and Horses email said:
Dover Saddlery is moving into the Triangle and
Only Fools and Horses will be closing our doors and welcoming Dover
    into the area.

Depends. I had to bring in the catalog for them to honor a sales price (they didn't have any there, nor do they give them out in the stores). Rule of thumb, if you see it cheaper on their site or in print, bring it with you, provided they even carry it in the store.

So, Don't get too excited, yet.

If they stock it like they do newly moved Charlottesville store, you're still going to be ordering from the catalog on many items. I walked in last month with a simple, everyday list consisting of things like schooling ear bonnets, schooling and non-slip pads, certain type of saddle soap we use, keepers, etc. and walked out with schooling pads. It's not that they didn't have the other items (well, they didn't have some of them), it's that they had a really poor-quality selection. I mean, it's great to have when you want to try a new helmet or how another coat fits, but you'll always find it cheaper online.

It sucks because I always get that "Oh! Oh! Tack Store!" excitement, too, but in the long run, I find my time and fuel are better spent paying S+H fees.

    Hopefully yours will be better!

Usually in quieter, slightly washed up outdoor smaller strip malls. In somewhat close vicinity to the horsey parts of town.

    By "refect" do you mean...

    1. Have that price on the tag?
    2. Ring up at the sale price?

No. But if you go in with the catalog and are patient, they will usually figure out how to ring it up at the sale price. You have to watch like a hawk and basically know the price of everything and have the catalog in hand. It's a PITA but ehy will "honor" the price if you point it out and watch them ring up the items.

If Fools and Horses are closing by July 30th, I would assume soon? Were they even open a year?

I hope it's soon! I don't think they were open for that long--it couldn't have been over a year. I went there once and wasn't impressed. I feel like their prices for "regular" items like fly spray, etc were ridiculously high.

How exciting! My checking account is not as excited as I am.

As someone who works for a local Raleigh tack shop, this is not awesome!

I understand why that would be frustrating, but sadly the local tack shops don't usually have the variety of items for the price that stores like Dover offer (hence why I do most of my ordering online). I know it's a Catch 22 sort of thing...

I think the best bet for local tack shops will be to carry the items that Dover doesn't have?

The nice thing about a local tack shop is if they are having a sale on an item you do not have to remember the catalog, with the page marked, and remind the cashier to get the sale price.
