Default Am I the only one that gets heart palpitations when I read a lameness thread?

I seriously start feeling anxious as soon as I start reading threads about lameness and illnesses. I'll start to swear my horse has some of the same symptoms and my stomach starts turning!

If I read the Horse Care forum for too long I will start losing sleep

Am I the only horsie hypochondriac out there????

    You are not alone!!!!

I called my little brother last week after a ride I had that didn't go as well as I would have liked. Of course I was on here too and seeing the same lameness stuff. So I think I vented to him about that and all the things it couldn't have been. For not being a horse person he gave me some good advice. "your horse is a good horsie, give her some treats and a day off. She's probably tired".

Little brother was right. She was fine after a day or two of rest
(turns out she had a stone bruise and was ok after 1-2 days)

not hypochondriac but am so superstitious I don't even like talking about 'it' and the four legged beast at the same time.

I had nightmares about my new (to me) antares saddle after I read a thread about trees breaking. Got a good deal on it, so I guess my subconscious said last night that it must be broken to pay under $1500 for a 2005 Antares.

I also think every time my old horse stumbles he has EPM b/c of the threads here. Le sigh... my husband threatens to cut me off from COTH if i don't stop freaking out lol

Just about every third day it seems like one mare has a little bob to her head when she trots up for dinner. Of course, she is trotting over very uneven, hilly ground. No heat, no swelling, not sensitive, nothin'. I feel your pain.

Yesterday when I went to feed the neighbors' horses, one was nowhere to be found. Usually both are in their stalls, waiting. Panic. Great. The day before they come home the horse is_______________ fill in the blank.
She was snoozing down the hill.
    Geez.

    Oh god yes!

The threads about horses dying get me really upset. Lameness threads really make me worry. And Antares broken tree threads, too!

Oops I was just going to write some positive stuff that would have me knocking on wood.

Well, I had a great ride today on my lovely mare and enjoyed doing it in my great-fitting, comfy Antares. The fans are on. She drank electrolytes in water and pooped and peed!

    A really good day!
