Why do cross-ties come with these on one end? Why not just put the quick release snap on both ends?

Agreed. If you are going to use a bull snap, you may as well just use a padlock.

Um, I LIKE bullsnaps. Am I the only one? They hold up better than trigger snaps. I have no problems opening them, even with one hand. I even get frustrated because they're hard to find.

The only kind I can stand are the ones with a nub for your thumb to open them--hard to find.

Another bull snap hater. They're murder on my arthritic hands. I just put them on the ring side of the crossties with a safety loop so I don't have to deal with them.

But I hate them as well!! I don't mind so much if they are on the unused part of the cross ties (tied to something that WILL break... because bull snap plus nylon will break after my horse does).

oh, I HATE bullsnaps! Trigger snaps are the only way for me to go. I have pinched my fingers so many times in bullsnaps! HATE THEM!

I am with Simke on this. I love bullsnaps and will never purposefully buy a regular snap for a horse. They always break, and if you want to teach a horse to pull back, put them in a regular snap and let them get away with breaking it and getting away once or twice.

I love the turtle snaps, I guess that's what they are--a bull snap with a little tab to help it open.

I can't tell you how many broken regular snaps I have, and I don't have horses that pull back. I have NO broken bull snaps.

I have never had a bull snap that wouldn't open or rusted. I have had many, many regular snaps that won't open because they are broken or rusted.

I actually like them too. I use them in my trailer. I put the bull end on the halter, the quick release on the baling twine attached to the trailer. If there is trouble, I can quickly un-attach the end at the wall and have a leash already safely attached to the halter to lead the horse. Simple.

I like the trigger bull snaps or buffalo snaps, that have a tab to make it easy to open. More secure, easier to use, but so hard to find!

But, your line isn't any stronger than the quick-release snap on the other end, so nothing is gained, strength-wise, and something is lost -- the easy release of a quick release at the halter.

What's the name of the release that usually comes on the opposite end of the cross-tie? The one where you pull down the length of the tie and an arm is released that is hinged at the other end? I find these acceptable, but really see nothing wrong with bolt snaps.

I've always called those panic snaps or quick-release snaps.
