Default Anyway to decode an older Pessoa saddle? Pictures added.

Ive run across an older Pessoa saddle that has the made in France stamp on it...not sure how old it is, what model, etc...

Is there anyway to find out using the serial number on the flap?

Not sure about the serial, but I'm sure if you posted a pic we could help you figure it out.

Yep, French leather. Made in England or Argentina, depending on age. Second the photo, I am sure we could figure it out!

My guess its between 8-10 years old, the person I got it from has had it for 6 years at least but knows nothing more about it. It LOOKS like an older AO, but I am not sure...I have emailed pessoa with havent heard back.

No help as to the exact make, but my old trainer had the exact same saddle and I LOVED it! I rode in it instead of my own saddle. The old Pessoa's are 10x better than the newer ones IMO.

Hmmm..the links appear to be working...

Thanks for the help...I am hoping Pessoa can at least tell me how old it is. anyone know if the older ones were wool or foam flocked?

That's odd. When I click on them, it takes me to MY FB news feed!!

Most of the old ones (and the new ones) are foam. There were some wool though.

Even my old-as-the-hills Pessoa was foam flocked... so I'm sure yours is.

Weird about the FB links!!!! I havent had a chance to ride in it yet, but it looks like it fits my horse better than the $$$$$$ County I have been borrowing. I was hoping to be able to ride in it tonight but my son has decided he does not feel well, so riding will have to wait.

    I got a steal in it...well, I THINK I did anyway, lol...since I really dont know much about it I am only guessing I did...under $600.

I had a Gen X about 2 years ago and I HATED it...damn thing literally fell apart and it was practically new when I bought it. This looks similiar to the EQ I had as a junior eons ago...not exactly the same, which is why I am thinking its the AO..

The billet guards are gone, and the only numbers I have found are what I assume are the serial numbers, on the right side bottom flap running vertical.

It has seem some use, but I cant find any other numbers anywhere else...

I don't think it's an "older" Pessoa made in England - those ones are usually printed on the flap (the gold printing) as "N. Pessoa". Those were the really great saddles that were made by Dabbs.

Without being able to read what is printed on the button, I'm guessing this one is probably a made in Argentina version... but looks to be in *great* condition. And if it fits your horse, who really cares where it was made? And $600 is not a bad price at all for a Pessoa. Usually they go in the $1000 range (give or take) for a used one.

I would contact English Riding Supply and see if they can help you out with any further information based on the numbers stamped on the saddle.

ETA - Foam flocked. You can usually tell by looking at the panels - if they have a seam (like County saddles do), then they are usually wool flocked. If there is no seam, then it is usually foam flocked. Pessoa only recently started doing anything different than standard foam, I believe.

I agree it must be a AO.... I have the jubilee. It is my second one and about 8 years old. I am sorry to tell you that the first one was made in France 17 years ago.The second one not so much, but it is still the most comfortable saddle ever! If this one fits your horse and is 600. I would grab it and not worry where it was made!

SportsFan46 is the Pessoa brand manager and can probably help you. I have my own mystery Pessoa thread going.
