The reason i am asking is that every year or second year my friends and I import semen from Europe direct

This coming year my friends are bringing in some french showjumpers and showjumping ponies

These are of no interest to me, and my research has showed up very little Im afraid

the semen must be actually produced in france to be able to do this . It cannot be made in germany, or holland or anywhere else and then sold in france

I have turned up a few surprises, such as Cockpit - the holstein stallion - dressage stallion who is at haras du Feuillard, and also the great Andalusian stallion Rubi who looks to be on the olympic team

There are also some stallions at Haras du has - such as Soliman du Has, who is owned by that stud, even though semen is available through celle

Quattro B semen is produced in germany, and yes Quando quando is now here in Australia

i realise that france is more about jumping blood, but my research on french dressage stallions is not turning up much, but this can also be about looking in the wrong places too

Any ideas of any kind are much appreciated

    thanks again

On a personal side, I have had a French rider here at my place, and her opinion for her national horses for dressage is poor, particularly because they have such a tough mouth as a group. This goes with my own experience , but my 40 plus years judging, riding and breeding is probably not worth much on this forum.

Didn't the Germans go buy a lot of the French dressage stallions and take them home to breed to their mares? I know the burgermeister of Oldenburg bought Inschallah way back there.

Inschallah was a "French anglo-arabian tb" according to my european wb books, who was accepted into the oldenburg studbook.

So some of those German horses that we buy are part French.

(and the european concept, except for the Holsteiner breeders, was to have a WB who both jumped and piaffed.)

paulamc, the french breeders never considered seriously dressage, except very recently.

So don't expect to find many candidates.

The ones suggested are very interesting (Edelweiss, Quatro) and the Haras de Hus is a good alternative (Soliman)
