Mare and I completed our first novice at Aspen Farms this weekend! Dressage not so good, very tough judge. Our test was very accurate and transitions spot on but still there was some tension. Zephyr is just not built for dressage and I think she tried her best. Her free walk was the best I'd seen out of her, stretching down across the diagnol but we still got a 5.
She rocked the stadium and we had a double clear. Didn't look at anything and no hesitation. I just stayed out of her way and let her take me to the jumps. Nice course, flowed very well.
Cross country she did great! We did have 2 stops, one at the first water, there's a jump and just beyond is the water which was dyed so it kind of freaked her out. I heard a lot of people had problems here. We got over it the second time and through the water - she kept wanting to stop and check it out and I'm spurring her on to keep her moving The second stop was at the ship and this time she was going to attempt to climb over like a mountain goat but nipped that in the bud and had her jump. After that, it was clear sailing (no pun intended), through the next water and down the hill to the back field and around and back to the finish.
I hope to get some pics posted soon. We had a great time and can't wait for the next one!

We *attempted* our first Novice this weekend ...got eliminated at the very unfriendly looking water. Quite the opposite of bright and startling, more like an giant dark, algae filled puddle in the woods.
