Ugh
There are so many who define the heart and soul of this BB that I can't stand the thought that Willem, truly one of 'ours', should be suffering.
Coreene, darling, you know that our curb chains are jingling and our best wishes are extended to the uber chestnut beast.

Thank you for the good wishes, I just got home from the barn. The bad news is that I have absolutely no idea what is going on, and we will not know until the bloodwork is back.
It is not founder. It is not colic. It could be the start of an upper resp, it could be atypical tying up except for that fever kind of shoots that idea, he was acting very off on his right hind but that is probably unrelated, it could be several things, it could be cellulitis or an infection somewhere and I just don't know for sure.
The good news is that the fever, which was 104.4 when the vet arrived, was down to 101.9 when I left a few hours later, thanks to a nice banamine jab. I had to wear home some of the bran that the antibiotics were mixed in, and I am rather unhappy that I had to do this all in work clothes (and, since it was warm in So Cal today, bare legs and a silk skirt). But thank God I had my barn jacket. Not so fun to be in my Enzo flatties, which now smell like horse pee.
I will be back at the stable at 6 a.m. and am hoping that, whatever it is, the medication knocks it on its "sitzen" and that he feels better very soon. Apparently there is a horse at our barn who has popped a big upper resp, so it could be this, although his lungs sounded like if this was the case, it was only at the start. He was running around screaming like an Indian this morning (ie normal behavior) in the paddock for an hour, he was fine at 5 p.m. when Marie went to blanket him, and at 6:30 he would not move.
Thank you again, all of you, for your jingles. Can't tell you how much this means.

Jingling here, Correene; remember occasionally they mess with yo' head and if they can do it while you are wearing silk, I think they get extra points! Thanks for the update and we'll be keeping both of you in our prayers! Big hug to you.
