I got my neighbor to scan this and send it to me. I haven't yet gotten the other ones, but thought I would post this. It was taken by a photographer for the Longmont (Colorado) Daily Times Call when he came out to do a story on me in 1978. I was headed straight to the Olympics then.

What, you never heard of me? Ya, well, when you are 11, the world awaits only your dreams.

This is me, on my 14.2 hand pony Sunny Mindance. She was a saddlebred-QH cross and in my view she was the best pony ever in the history of the world - ever

That photo really does say it all.

I wish I had something to add pictorially.Let's just say that in 1969 it probably looked alot like that, just maybe not so gosh-darned cute!

Just last night I was looking through some old pictures and found one of the only ones I have of me on a schoolie I used to show in the children's hunters (yes, some shows had 3' hunters in the late 70s) and lower level equitation.

It's at home, but I'll try to remember to bring it to the office and scan it in. It was taken in the summer of 1980, Reagan was elected that fall, so it just qualifies. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif

I think these are all before the 80s, so qualify.

From 1965. This is me on a fabulous little school horse jumping an outside course. We wuz flying!

The photo had gotten creased and a bit raggedy, and a friend cleaned it up for me. The result looks like I'm holding the reins "thumbs first," but not so.

I believe that Reagan took office in '85 and this was taken in 84. This is the last time that I rode and the last time that Andy was on a horse until four years ago.

I know! I know! no helmets! But you didn't even think of wearing one riding western then.

Gosh, all of your photos are wonderful! Bumpky, you were such a star! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

I am, alas, scannerless. Besides, most of my pre-Reagan photos that are any good were all on the flat, where I once wore the crown of Queen of Equitation.

Whew! LaurieB, talk about FLYING! She must have taken off 8' back! Great shot, though. What show is that from?

This picture, which I might have posted before, is probably the earliest one that any current poster will post of themselves... I was 5 and the year was... 1954. (That's Pre-Reagan, right? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif )

My sister had just gotten run away with on the pony we shared in the pony hunter class and my mother was not going to let me ride in my beginner equitation class (pretty big jump for beginner eq.) but I cried so hard that she let me go, but knotted the snaffle rein, so all I had to hold on to was the curb.

After the class, the judge was overheard saying, "I would have pinned that little BOY on the spotted pony if he had been using both reins." (So much for the "bowl" haircuts my mother gave me back then.....)

Sad to think that the spectators in the picture are all long since dead..... http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif

These are great! Sorry I don't have a scanner to add some pictures ... but that might be a good thing. My pictures from those years could certainly be used for blackmail! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_razz.gif

1977, Saratoga (when it was on the infield of the Oklahoma track), Large Pony Hunters. Back then, they pulled out the rolltop and threw in some poles for the sm/meds.

    Ahhh, the fashon faux pas!!!
