Default Southern AZ - favorite trails?

Just curious if people have some recommendations for great trails in Southern AZ. I'm in Tucson and love to go to Catalina State Park, which is gorgeous and I really can't complain there, but I'd like to know of any other recommendations for trails in the general area. That one's so convenient and lovely that I haven't branched out much.

I do generally ride alone, so all recommendations are welcome, but I do like trails that are frequented by hikers, mountain bikers, etc. so I'm not completely alone in the wilderness in case anything happens!

    TIA!

I've never ridden them, but I have hiked in the Coronado/Miller's Canyon/Ramsey Canyon area near Sierra Vista. Hopefully someone will chime in on the rideability of that area. I will say, though, that they might not make the best choice for solo riding...I know that even while I was out there birding alone I came across several groups of Border Patrol Agents who make the very strong suggestion that I turn around and NOT venture into the valleys by myself. Very sad

Thanks Ellie Mae! It's true that there are a variety of reasons not to ride out alone, especially close to the border. As my name suggests, I'm a dressage rider but my horse is a very experienced trail horse, and we've logged hundreds and hundreds of hours of solo trail rides. I try to get friends from the barn to go with me, but most of them aren't interested in leaving the property, or they are worried their horses won't handle the trail, or they prefer to just ride out around the neigborhood (while my horse and I both LOVE getting out into the mountains!), etc. so yeah, I'm looking for the most fun we can have on the trail while not being dangerous about where we go

Grew up in Tucson, in Phoenix now and I miss Tucson riding! Sounds like you are closer to the northwest side if you go to Catalina, but I highly suggest Saguaro National Monument east. My friend and I even did an overnight trip in the Rincon mountains up to Manning Camp. You can also try Reddington Pass for riding, however I think the road is pretty crappy up there (haven't been up there in 20+ years).
