Well, I don't feel nearly so guilty about my diet lime Pepsi (aka "liquid death") habit now.

Here's the link to the Ford FB page as well. They don't seem too eager to drop their sponsorship. My post on their wall was promptly removed. Make your voice heard!!

Well, then, as I see it, why do the judges pin the outlandish movements?? That also incentivizes (is that a real word??) the trainers to keep making the big stepping horses. Which in turn leads to using the caustic chems on the legs.

Good for Pepsi but I'd like to see the vid. Is it on youtube?

I emailed Ford earlier today. They responded, and told me that Ford Motor Company is not a sponsor of the Celebration....it is a group of local Ford dealers that sponsor it, and they do so independantly of the main corpration. Ford has no control over this...so complaints should be made to the actual sponsors...the Mid-South Ford Dealers.

Given that this is a HSUS "production", and knowing their reputation as far as the "truth" goes, I'm reserving my opinion.

I see your point, but it does show the guy hitting the horse with a bat/pole and shocking another horse for an unknown/stoopid reason. No reason for that, in my book.

Plus the guy is pleading guilty.

Seriously Frank B, what more proof does it take for you? I do not care if a flying monkey filmed it, that video is extremely damning to the trainer.

I did not see the video. I don't know the big lick scene, but can imagine if, say, one horse hunter trainer abused his horse and the sponsor stopped supporting a big hunt show, that a lot of good trainers would lose their businesses.
It might be better to start a new class with the most cash winnings for the form of movement that you think is more humane/better for the horse.

Watching those horses go actually brought tears to my eyes, looking at their hind ends and the twisting of their hocks and the look in their eyes. They are in pain and discomfort. Then to see what they deal with on a daily basis.... truly sickening. I am shocked by the abuse.

HSUS or not, this really does happen in Big Lick barns all over, most esp. in the South.

This is not the result of editing for effect... sadly it's all too true

What does Bluey have to do with this thread? Why do you feel the need to put words in her mouth? Is it because you are a rara and get called out on it by quite a few on here? It is not just Bluey who dislikes the rara groups and their supporters like yourself.

IMO Animal welfare is backed by almost every poster on this board.

Those I have seen posting on here, that are anti-rara, are very much against any intentional abuse of Big Lick horses. Animal welfare and animal rights are two very different ideas.

Every video of abuse that has ever been posted here as the result of undercover surveillance, Bluey has claimed is edited, or the people were paid to abuse the animals. I'm sure this one will be no different.
And if calling a horse owning, horse riding, pet owning, meat eating, person that is against commercial horse slaughter for human consumption, but fine with someone slaughtering and eating their own horse, an RARA makes you feel better, go ahead. It just makes you look ignorant, and does a disservice to the real RARA's like those that scream at the carriage drivers or threaten people in the animal industry.
