I pass by a barn every day where this wonderful lady teaches equitation. All of her students were very young.....except me. I went and asked her if she'd teach me how to actually ride a horse and explained my background. The first thing she did was put me on a horse, me blindfolded and she had the reins. She explained rather quickly that first I had to learn how to SIT on a horse and feel the horse. By the end of the first week (I went for hours a day, every day, thirsty for her knowledge) I was riding this horse with no saddle, no reins and only my seat and legs to go and stop. It was absolutely exhilarating!!!!

So give me a Strollin Jim or Merry Maid any day of the week. That's plenty of "show" for me.
