I sure hope these "Ag-Gag" efforts get chased out of law. I have no doubt that if it wasn't for the private sector being willing to go undercover horses would still be whipped and kicked to get up in that infamous barn.

No way would local or even federal law enforcement think about dedicating resources to investigate McConnell for abuse of show horses.

These cases have to be handed to them.

Hope things keep going in the right direction Preacher.

hurely,if the BL TWH are not worried about all this than why are they trying to make a new member of the alphabet soup gang namely PSHA,at the trainers show one of their own made the statement,"do to cameras the TWH has to do the right thing."so now we must show them the right thing is to end stacks and action devices.now that the Grand Jury has sent the message that Jackie and the training of the performanceTWH has a big problem with Equine abuse.

Don't know if it was mentioned or linked before, but APHIS now keeps a FOIA log of violations:

Thanks, that worked. It's horrible to watch how the foot flips with the package. Even if you're not soring, this shows how much damage the stacks alone can do.

    Are you kidding me?

Legislation is pending but the “Big Lick” crowd is fighting back. Not long ago they held a reception for a disreputable Senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell (not believed to be kin to Jackie).

The Kentucky senator has bullied the USDA to “lay off” the Shelbyville “Big Lick” crowd and was the subject of a scathing series in the Lexington newspaper this summer. But, just like the defiant and now-battered Big Lick hierarchy, the Republican Senator doesn’t seem to realize or even care he is a “bought” puppet of treacherous people

It's not surprising at all. Give enough $5K and $10K and up checks to enough lobbyists and you'll have whatever legislator in your pocket, doing your bidding, in short order.

The Senator doesn't care who buys him...as long as they pay. I'm working hard on Ditch Mitch in 2014.

Interesting that HSUS is caring for the horses in the McConnell case. And interesting that the owners have not been a voice in any court.

From the HSUS link to the actual charges. http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/.../mcconnell.pdf

I think the dates will carry some weight in the many discussions on these undercover efforts by non governmental entities.

It may all be misdemeanor charges with minimal penalty as the acts took place before Tennessee beefed up their animal cruelty laws. But here is a link from google on the scope of the law:

    http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/s...14_201_212.htm

Summary: These Tennessee anti-cruelty provisions define "animal" as a domesticated living creature or a wild creature previously captured. A person commits the offense of cruelty to animals (a Class A misdemeanor) if he or she intentionally or knowingly tortures, maims or grossly overworks an animal; fails unreasonably to provide necessary food, water, care or shelter for an animal in the person's custody; abandons unreasonably an animal in the person's custody; transports or confines an animal in a cruel manner; or inflicts burns, cuts, lacerations, or other injuries or pain. It is a defense to prosecution that the action was accepted veterinary practice or bona fide scientific research. A second or subsequent conviction for cruelty to animals is a Class E felony. Animal fighting is also prohibited under this section, with dog fighting incurring a felony penalty and cockfighting resulting in a misdemeanor in most cases. A person commits aggravated cruelty (a Class E felony) to animals when, with aggravated cruelty and with no justifiable purpose, he or she intentionally kills or intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal. Again, exclusions include animal farming, research, veterinary practices, hunting, trapping, "dispatching" rabid animals or wild animals on one's property, among other things.
