Default A fun day x-country schooling

Yesterday when schooling at a new place. Took my older galding as my young guy is just coming back from an abscess. My older guy has some major stress problems when going new places. We are trying different things to see if we can get him back to easy horse he use to be. So to say that he can be a bit of a pill when upset is an under statment.

I only rode the first 40 mins or so. I had hurt my back last week unloading hay and woke up with it sore, but was hoping that is would not be to bad. But every time he would pull on me it would hurt more. So I hoped off on a good note and keep him with the group. I wanted to get back on when they got to the drop banks. but felt it was in my best intrested not to.

My friend who is just getting back into riding after being out for 20 yrs did her very first x-country yesterday as well. I think I have her hook.

Here are a few photos of the morning. The place is just lovely.

I know it makes my butt look big but I just love this shot.

Where was that? Looks like NWEC in Rainier but that would be a long haul from B.C. Nice pics. Just a suggestion, your stirrups looked a little long, you might want to bring them up a hole or two for XC.

You did great with him yesterday while your back held up!

Mtn, it's in Victoria, above a regional park, just a private barn with some jumps up to almost training that's great for introducing the babies to x/c. Getting to the course is fun though. You have to drive UP, UP, and up some more along a winding, in some places 1 lane, road with a rather long drop off the side to the river below and cliff face to the other. A bit of white-knuckle driving to get the adrenaline rushing for x/c, that's for sure- I always figure if I got up to the barn I can do anything on the course

It is just outside of Victoria, BC. lovely place first time there.

They are up 3 holes from what I use in dressage. Only a hole longer then I use to ride in when I use to do training/Prelim back in the day. I also want a little longer of a stirrup on this horse.

OMG that road, going up was fine, didn't pass anyone. coming down was crazy, passed about 10 car/trucks. I am glad not another trailer I am not sure what we would have done.

You did great as well with your girl, I thought you where going to come off a few times. You got guts girl.
