    Default High Hope Steeplechase

The High Hope is this Sunday in Lexington, Ky., at the Horse Park. If you've never been, you should come, and if you have been, come back! It's a great day of racing and tailgating for a good cause. The races are sanctioned, and you get to see Chris McCarron's students in their first race

Nothing like seeing 'chasing from the grounds of the Horse Park.

The entries for the race haven't been closed yet - but you'll be able to find them here:

They are also having a sportwoman's challenge for the first time. Should be a great day!

The entries are looking thin with the NSA recognizing just three races - the 4th a timber was cancelled due to a lack of entries. Still the point is to go out, support and have fun!

Nice day of racing. The NARA (racing academy kids) did really well. Unfortunately the ladies Benefit race had a sad accident. Not sure of specifics. One horse euthanized however.

12,000+ showed up in support per the Herald Leader.

Rider Victoria Oliver, who is a top horse trainer in Kentucky, fell from her thoroughbred Rex, who is a racetrack pony. Oliver was taken to a hospital, but apparently did not suffer any serious injuries, said High Hope volunteer Scooter Hughes.

Rex was taken to a veterinary clinic; his condition was not known early Sunday evening. Rex did manage to walk into the horse van waiting to take him to the clinic, Hughes said.

The identity of the other rider who fell was not immediately available, but she apparently was not hurt.

So sorry for the rider and her horse.

We had a great day. I hope they have a few more races next year, but it's still so much fun and for a great cause. I wonder how much stuff I ended up with from the silent auction

Hope I was wrong & horse ended up being ok! Had just heard that from one of the outriders who was there. Didn't mean to start an incorrect rumor. They seemed like a great group of ladies out for a great cause. Hope all ends well for everyone.
