Default PSA-shipping a saddle via UPS

I just got royally dinged having a saddle shipped from the US to Canada. I had requested it ship via USPS, but the seller wanted to use UPS and only charged me $55 for the freight. I just got charged $138.95 for brokerage fees and HST by UPS. In case you need to send a saddle across the boarder I would not recomend UPS.

It isn't just saddles...UPS' brokerage fees are astronomical for EVERYTHING! Definitely if given a choice, USPS or FedEx.
Hope you like your new saddle at least

I hate it when sellers wont listen to that argument, USPS is the only way to ship to Canada.

Yes, well...at least the saddle is lovely. It's a King's Saddle, Walsall and is every bit as nice as a Barnsby. I just hope it will fit my Morgan!

I sell some saddles on Ebay, and yes, USPS is the ONLY way to go when shipping US to Canada. Sorry you got dinged.

If you are close enough to a border, have it held for pickup at the UPS store/depot that is closest.

I love Quillin halters, but after the first time shipping them across the border, and getting royally dinged for brokerage fees, I've picked them up at the Buffalo UPS. Worst that happens is I pay HST.
