Just because the movie rights were bought doesn't mean it will necessarily be made into a movie. Every bestselling book has its movie rights sold and how many of them do you actually see as movies? That said, there can't be a movie without the movie rights, so there is hope

    There are many of them.

There have been a couple that have sold for over 1 million...that is far more unusual. But half a million is not that uncommon for proven horses at that level (international level). I've known of several 2* horses who sold in the 250K range.

And you bet there are even more insured for that amount given the cost to get them to that level--cost to replace.

An average event horse....no. But there are event horses bought and sold for pretty big numbers now.

Back to the topic...I thought it was well done. It is a very good story...and Boyd gave a very good interview.

Oh I loved the piece last night, it was so fun. It was really great to see how they wove the cribbing strap into the narrative, and explained this ... the takeaway (I hope) is that even when a horse is not perfect, and even when others think the horse isn't any good, a believer can make good. And even when terrible adversity strikes, something no one could foresee, that horses can save you back.

I agree my eyebrows went up a bit at that but, while not common, I think there are event horses that cost that much. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Medicott was close to that neighborhood and I am pretty sure during the dispute over ownership of Michael Jung's horse, that the numbers being thrown around for sale price were over that.

It sure was nice to see eventing getting some positive mainstream media coverage (that front page NYT story a few years ago that my mother read did me no favors )

Yes! I totally agree! What a great segment! I think Boyd and Neville are perfect representatives of our sport and I'm excited to see how they continue to grow together as a team.

As for who could play Boyd in the movie... what about Matthew McConaughey? He'd have to work on the accent, though.

It certainly did not hurt the storyline out there for America that Boyd is incredibly cute ... and oh so cheeky.

I'd rather see a no namer play the role...sick of seeing big names only in the movies!

I don't know his name - but the guy in The Man from Snowy River would be perfect! He's already got the accent, the looks, and the riding ability!

eta - just realized that was a 1982 movie and Tom Burlinson is now almost 60! oops!

I think I got chills when they show them tearing up the galloping lane @ Burley after showing pictures of Neville looking sad and sickly right after the accident. What an amazing horse (and rider, too!). I would pay full price over and over and over to see their story at the movies!

I would think MLM's new horses cost a pretty penny. How about Ryan Gosling?

Totally teared up, was watching it before I went to work and was late because I couldn't stop just a few minutes from the end. Such an incredible pair!

Also-I think Boyd should play himself!
