No kidding! My FLF (end of meet of '09 alumn) is just a hair under 15.2hh and now that I have been able to work with him consistently, we are jumping 3' handily. Actually, the fences are set at 3' but, greenie that he is, he's taking them at about 4' Right now we are working on getting a foot abscess to finally pop out and then we'll be back to flying over fences. Ability can come in smaller packages.

Does anyone else see the smile on Dade City's face in his first picture? Adorable.

Not as of yesterday. Ed Perdue loves this horse and will hang on to him until he finds a home. He is such a gorgeous, intelligent, classy horse, and he is quite the mover. There must be someone out there is is not an "ageist" who just wants an amazing horse!
I have a friend who is trying to work out timely shipping for one of the cute mares in urgent need --Katlyn Ann -- so keeping fingers crossed.

We are getting closer to getting Cutie home! I can't have another horse really but I may be 'fostering' her for a time until either I sell one or get Cutie settled in somewhere long term. She might be for my Dad even, he is 65 and a great rider. She would be his first OTTB. I will keep the thread posted as the day wears on!

I hate to ask, but have there been threats of sending horses to PR this year? or are they already gone and were never listed?
Still jingling for Cutie and the in need horses.

We were told about six weeks ago that the buyers for Puerto Rican racing stables would not be coming to FL this year, and to get ready for a particularly frantic end of season placement rush as a result. We do not know if that changed and they were in fact around buying horses.

Thank you Thank you!!
I am so relieved and happy. You've got some crappy travelling weather. Where are you travelling from? If you go through Geneva you could swing by my office for money!!
I got this news via e-mail and immediately bawled!

Fantastic news!
Any word on the other urgents? Round Not Sleek, Katlyn Ann, Dade City? Those two ladies look to be solid and well bodied. And if you look past Dade City's shaggy coat and ill fitting halter, you'll see a really cute boy. Jingles for them all!
foundationmare, Peaches is stunning! I bet she could tear up a XC course.

Katlyn Ann has a home!
In addition to the fantastic news about Cutie, another one of the adorable at risk mares has found a home: Katlyn Ann!
Sweet story here-- the woman who is taking her really wanted her as her first choice, but when she called one week ago she was told the mare had been placed. So she moved on and decided to take Fearless Buzz and Barbarules instead. When we confirmed on Saturday morning that the placement for Katlyn Ann had fallen through, we immediately informed the interested person. She said she would never renege on the ones she had committed to, so we should still load them on the waiting trailer, and she would think about whether she could also take on Katlyn Ann.
We spent yesterday afternoon e-mailing, texting, back and forth; she lined up shipping (my wonderful BO agreed to do it, since our barn is not far from the intended destination for Katlyn Ann), she called the contact person, and hooray -- tomorrow afternoon Katlyn Ann will depart FL for a great new home. The initial placement that fell through was for more racing; now the lucky mare gets to go to a lovely barn and have a big pasture to romp in with two other Finest friends, and have some winter time off and then get retrained for light dressage and fun trail riding.

I wish I could help...I told meupatdoes last night...I'm just all kinds of full with my crazy guy that I've had a year tomorrow- he decided to be an expensive pick w/surgery at Cornell and training (NOT that they all are, and every penny spent on him- I have chosen to spend, because he makes me giggle daily!)...There's some nice stories coming out now and some wonderful horses left. I'm soooo happy to hear about them going to new great adventures/homes!!!
