As far as I know she doesn't have a home yet. Ralph is good to his horses so I'm sure he has her stashed someplace, but I bet she could use some special love from her own person.

Boy... that's a horse I would snatch if I could and I'm not even a mare person, though I have a feeling she would take no time to convert me

Happy New Year -- and Thank You for a very successful 2012!
2012 has been an amazing year for Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds. Our listings helped place 143 horses into new homes -- and our volunteers and affiliated groups were personally involved in linking a majority of these lucky horses with their equally lucky new people.
This is a record number of horses placed for the trainer listings! Other milestones for 2012 include the launch of our new website, which has drawn many rave reviews-- and helped place over 90 horses just since it launched in mid-August; the launch of our Facebook page which has been very successful in drawing buyers to the horses and was getting over 5000 hits in many weeks; the return to active service of some previous volunteers and the addition of several new volunteers; the establishment of our complete not-for profit status.
But certainly the best milestones of all have been the heartfelt thanks we have received from the trainers at Finger Lakes and the many happy updates from people who have brought a FL Finest into their lives! So keep those happy updates coming.
Thank you to everyone who stepped up to provide a good new home to a FL Finest, and our best wishes for many successes in the New Year, and many more.

Just a quick update: Our Helen Wheels has a new owner! She came to my trainer's barn for retraining board today. She is even cuter in person and WOW at her movement. Lovely, lovely trot even in a foot of snow!

Terrific news about OHW! I loved her movement when I took her listing in the early summer -- a fancy hunter or sport horse in the making. Looks like SFI is the home to quite the great string of FL Finests -- Bro and lots of girls!

Great news -- Genuine Offer, aka Bella, has found her person, and is staying at the lovely Stampede Farm near Geneseo NY to be retrained as an event horse. Last weekend I was talking to the farm's owner and trainer about the mare, and she was raving about how athletic, scopey, and brave she is. I just know Bella is going to make a spectacular eventer! We look forward to what are sure to be great updates.

Trying to get in touch with the trainer, John Ross, about the mare Next Top Model. Haven't had any luck :/ Anyone know if she is still available? Or how I can reach him beyond the phone number listed. Email maybe?

Somewhere I have the phone number for Steve Murtough, who is the actual owner of this lovely mare. I will dig it out from my piles of FLF notes, and send it to you. I last spoke with Steve in late Nov/early Dec., and at that time he was firm on his price and said he would find a place to keep her over the winter. When I spoke with John at FL near the end of the meet, he said he did not yet know where Steve was planning to take the mare for the winter.
And what a gerat report form Horsecents on Tanner! The Lucinda's do have an eye for a horse, don't they? We all look forward to many more great posts about his progress -- see the thread Finger Lakes Finest Roll Call, for you and anyone else to post your updates!

I had Tanner at my farm for the winter of his 2/3 yr old year. I thought a lot of him and really tried to promote him on the horse listings. I'm enjoying the updates immensely!

Wow, poor Broadway can't catch a break. This is at least her second rehoming since the track.
Well isn't this dandy?

That's too bad. ^^ Wish I could grab her and give her another chance. If only I could sell my place and get the new farm we have an offer in on, I'd have a ton of pasture and space to take on another.

Yes, poor Broadway's Stardust indeed. At the end of the racing season in 2011 she went to a young teen near Watertown NY, to what we were assured would be a forever home. Then we got reports that while the girl loved the mare, her "trainers" were not into OTTBs or the mare, and were urging her to get a quiet shuffling old quarter horse instead. So the sweet little mare wound up in the place near Binghamton, where she is now once again for sale through Craig's List.
I sure do hope someone steps up to give her a truly great home where she will be for along time. As I recall, she is very sweet, quiet and sensible, but has a slight parrot mouth.
Here's hoping the COTH network helps keep this one from the fate of too many listed through Craig's list.

News on another FLF Alumnus... GOOD news
It's funny how memory works... I bumped into a friend of mine while doing laser tx on a horse. She shows me her new "project" horse, a leggy OTTB she just got while her other one takes a year off with a mysterious foot problem. I ask the name and she says "Justin [her husband] named him Finnley." To which I say "I meant, what's his Jockey Club name?" to which she says "Repetal"... Ah-hah! I tell her I think he was off the FLF listing and tap away on my smartphone. Sure enough:
Repetal
So he has a good home for now. This friend is a small animal vet and, even if he were to not work out for her, the only time I have seen her place horses she is particular about it. I have an internal (and totally spontaneous) feeling that even if he doesn't work for her, he might for her husband (why else would you give your BH naming rights? hehehe...).

Great news, FF! I remember Repetal -- a big leggy bay of Christine Attwood's that we listed early last season. A COTHer in Florida who retrains OTTBs for sport careers took him from the track --and now it looks like he flourished in her training program and has found a good new home, and with a Finest fan as his vet. hooray!
