FInger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds 2012 Trainer Listings
We are now officially "back at the track" for the 2012 Finger Lakes season -- and we already have our first new listing. Futile Attempt, a big sound unraced mare, who is a great sport horse prospect, so let's start getting the word out!
Last weekend SEPowell and I went to Finger Lakes, chatted with many trainers and people in the racing office, got updates on several horses that were still on our listings from last year, and are now ready to go with new listings for this season.
We thought we should start this new thread for the 2012 season, so that you don't have to scroll through all of last year's messages to track your favorites, ask us questions, and get help in adding one of these wonderful OTTBs to your life.
I have cross posted these updates on the status of horses form last season's listings on the Finger Lakes Trainer Listings Rides Again thread, since many will still be checking there before moving to this new 2012 thread.
We found out that some of the horses still on the 2011 listings did in fact find new homes: Why Because ( for polo); Howdyalikethemapples ( a family all purpose horse); Gracious Victory (show prospect); Saint for Joan (racing in Puerto Rico).
Some horses are definitely still available, so if you are interested please call the trainer listed for 2011: Florida Quaker; Taconic Girl; Seneca Chief
Several 2011 listed horses are still in training for racing at Finger Lakes, and are doing well after their winter breaks -- they may be available again later in the racing season. This "still racing" group includes: Truffula; One Classy Lady; Regal Encounter; Montessori; Stack o'Dollars; Private Screening; Too Critical; Titusville; Relatively Ready; Seventeen Love; Group Effort; YNV Me; YesNoWhatever; Six Roses Gone; Two Gendarmes; Pegasus Ajuda.
If you had a favorite from this group, take heart in knowing they are healthy, and it never hurts to let the trainer know you are truly seriously interested!
We couldn't find everybody, so there are other 2011 listed horses we did not get to check on, so if I haven't mentioned one of your favorites, don't despair.

Woohoo, put that mare on a truck to Georgia. I'd buy her on her feet alone. (Must get a job first dangit.)

Does anyone know what happened with Rizzi's Twist? I saw her last year at the track. Thanks!

No, she would be on a truck to SoCal if the shipping fees weren't out of my budget!

If I could afford a third horse, I would have snatched up Paying Attention! I'm sure his big brother, Pay Attention, would have loved to introduce him to farm life. Did he find a good home?

A couple more nice ones were just listed this morning. I wish I could go shopping - I would willingly take either mare and the gelding isn't bad either.

I went yesterday and have 4 new horses to list but must first edit the photos, write the write ups and then go through a couple of uploads to get them online... so patience my dears
Then, I need to return to get one I missed and three videos
I would love to come. It sounds like tempting fun. Send me a PM next time.

We don't know where Paying Attention wound up; when back at the track we can ask his trainer for more information. We always like to try to follow up as much as possible on the horses we list!
It is so gratifying when we learn about good new homes and get updates from the happy new Finests owners. These great moments certainly make up for the unfortunate occasional (but thankfully rare) bad news.

Four brand new never been listed horses are up with prices and contact information. Write ups are coming. Sorry I'm late but I have a bit too much going on at the moment. Hope to have it all finished by tomorrow noon.

WOW! The four new horses are amazing! Good ship and Jethro made me drool all over my keyboard and wonder if there is any way I could talk the husband into just one more horse...

For those of you liking the look of Good Ship, this lovely mare spent the late winter/early spring at the farm where Tilly, one of my Finger Lakes Finests, is on training board. The excellent and very experienced eventing trainer at this farm broke Good Ship and taught her excellent manners and put great flat work basics into her. The people who handle the horses there raved about what a good natured and easy to work with mare she is. The trainer was also very high on her potential for sport/dressage/eventing. Unraced, sound, sane, and already a couple of months good training into her --this one is truly a gem, and someone had better snap her up!

Hmmmm... the canter horse I wanted to buy for my trainer was gone before I got a chance... now I'm very tempted by Florida Quaker. Guess I'll have to talk to her about it and see if she's interested.

Glad you guys are back. You did such an excellent job last year. I am sure you will find many fine prospects for people to snatch up.

Don't tell Mr. Trevelyan!
Eeek! Made the call about Florida Quaker. We'll see what owner has to say.

Good Luck. I remember her being discussed on the eventing forum when she was listed last year. A few people thought she had upper level potential.

OOOOH hooray -- keeping my fingers crossed for you and this lovely mare! I am firmly in the camp of those who see upper level potential in her -- when we took her listing last fall there was a power and elegance about her that really captured our eyes, and we just couldn't believe she didn't get snapped up quickly. Carol said she got several calls, but some were no shows. Then she moved the mare to her farm, so we couldn't show her to the "shoppers" who we escorted aorund the track. Perhaps this will turn out to be your lucky break.
