    Default Well, that was an expensive snack. Beta + red cherry shrimp

    I've kept shrimp with betas in the past and not had issues. Sure, maybe the beta ate the tiny babies and kept the population from exploding, but that was it.

    So I bought 20 RCS from Aquabid and added them to the 5 gallon planted tank I have at work that houses beta fish Flame. He's still pretty little.

    He is now having a grand old time hunting down all the shrimp. Even those that seem waaaaay too large for him to snack on. Sigh.

    I'd really like just a little more color and interest in the tank. It is moderately planted with anubias, java fern, spiralis and crypts. I don't want anything terrible high maintenance. Any thoughts?

    I have one simple cory cat in my 5 gallon fish tank...I want more, but my tank is too small. My Beta ate the ghost shrimp with him....sadly...but fortunately they weren't expensive!

    Love my Cory Cat....

    Indeed! I guess I've just been lucky in the past.

    There are a few survivors this morning, and Flame was plenty hungry for his regular breakfast, so hopefully they've all reached an agreement. Or the speedy shrimp are left. Fingers crossed they go on to produce super wily shrimp that are beta proof

    Aww, I had a betta named Flame back when I raised them... he was named after the Island Stallion. (;

    Oh no! My friend just started trying to breed Betas and ordered several from overseas. She decided that she had too many males after losing 2 females during shipping, and offered me a gorgeous navy and blue male and she said "You can have the ghost shrimp too to keep him company". =O He's gonna eat them???
    Rhode Islands are red;
    North Hollands are blue.
    Sorry my thoroughbreds
