    Default Growing in a bridlepath

So long story short, my horses bridle path was clipped way to long about a little over a month ago. I generally leave it only about an inch long, just enough for a bridle. But now it is between 3 and 4 inches I have been trying to let it grow in since I havent been showing at anything huge lately. But this weekend I need to braid him and he has a mohawk! I am debating between leaving it so it can grow in, or just keeping it clipped long throught the whole summer.

Which do you think would be the better choice? I hate to have a mohawk, but I will also be showing all summer and dontwant to keep re-clipping this obnoxiousley long bridle path. Or if anyone has some amazing idea to make it look normal while letting it grow in???

    Thanks!

How long is the hair right now? You can usually braid it a bit, incorporate 3 or 4 strands of yarn instead of one and "manufacture" a few braids.

Is it long enough to put a braid in, even if it's a goofy little button braid? That's what I'd do. Or else lay it flat and stick it under the bridle if I could.

This. DO NOT cut it again! I had a horse that had about five inches of this mane shaved for a medical test--I happily paid a pro to braid until it had grown out.

Its not long enough to braid yet. Probably only about an inch long. In a month or so it should be long enough to manufacture a braid, but not yet unfortunately.

I'd try to tuck it under the bridle or else just leave it. Better to get the growing out over with than have to start over!!!

Leave it. It will take a while to grow in, but it's worth it.

Leave it. I had the same problem, I think my OTTB had about four or five inches of his mane clipped at the track. Its about two inches long now and I keep it banded to train it to lay flat. Makes it much easier to braid.

Default I just did this over the winter...

I just let one grow out over the winter and it is just now getting long enough to look normal.

Even though I absolutely despise the smell of it, I have to say that MTG will grow out the hair quickly. If you can apply it 2-3 times per week, you should be able to grow it out fairly quickly. I did not use it for mine and it took him 3-4 months to grow it out.

Give it a go! I would just suffer through it. Don't clip it again.

Just leave alone and let it grow. If he has a little Mohawk it won't be that noticeable.
