Yes, I had a normal transaction. Got the non-quilted half pad that seems exactly like the ones everyone else has, and a semi-custom green and gray shaped pad that also appears to be the real thing. The box was horribly mangled in shipping, but the pads were fine. I guess I would say the sheepskin on the green/gray pad was not as nice as the stuff I've seen on other pads, but it appears to be real, so perhaps the dyeing process made it seem not as luxuriant or perhaps there is indeed a lesser-quality sheepskin/fleece/wool they use on these.
Is the link still working for everyone? Can't make it go.

I ordered from them two years ago. The pads are Mattes' second tier, not "platinum," which is the super fluffy sheepskin.
Pad still works very well and has held up well. Had trouble getting the package due to lack of communication ( I was told it was being delivered by a delivery company but it was sitting at the post office about to be sent back...).

Thanks for the feedback, all. I ordered yesterday, before seeing Asterix's comment on the sheepskin being of a lesser quality. Not the "platinum"
Given that - you said it holds up well? Is the sheepskin okay? It just isn't as super thick and fluffy you say.....but is it thick and fluffy ENOUGH?
IOW - do you love your pad? Or do you wish it was the Platinum? Ive never seen the the two different kinds of "Mattes sheepskin" - I didn't know they had two levels.

I personally wish it was the platinum, but mine have held up just fine. It's nicer than a fake "fleece" pad but definitely not as fine and cushy as real sheepskin.

I actually don't like super-plush, thick sheepskin--interferes with saddle fit, IMO. It *feels* nice, but the thickness is too much. I have a gorgeous Fleeceworks I won that is just about un-usable because it's too plush. So I'd say the thickness of this less-exalted sheepskin is just right. Mine have held up fine, FWIW.

Mr. Princess-and-the-Pea would be happy to take that Fleeceworks pad off your hands, erm, back.

Is there an option on this site to get the Platinum version or do you just get those on the Mattes site? I don't see it on the German site, if it's there.
Thanks

I agree that ther fleece is different. It is definatly a thinner/lighter fleece. There is a huge difference in the weight and the density between the pad that I bought from US supplier and the European supplier. Though you get some pretty cool different colors, I will probably stick to the US quality level that I was expecting. Look cool though, and the wait was 8-9 weeks for the European pads!

I'm so glad this thread was dredged up as I have been wanting a new pad for jumping/XC and the semi-shaped ones with the fleece outline have grown on me. Fully custom colors for $129!

Mattes pad info, please
Wow, the site for designing your own Mattes pad is super!
Just for clarification, do all Mattes pads have the gullet of the pad, unlined? IOW, does the sheepskin padding NOT go down the middle length of the pad?
I have a Mattes half pad with the gullet open but have never seen any other Mattes pad. I'd love to get one that I can use without having another pad underneath.
Thanks for clarifying.

Ugh, I just realized that I could snag a fully custom half pad for $94....that's much more tempting than a fully shaped but purely frivolous navy blue pad for $119....

Geesh...the pad I just designed was still $274. Guess I'll have to wait for a special occasion.

I've ordered twice in the last 90 days.
They ARE platinum, and are labeled as such.
The first one took 28 days from order to doorstep, and the second took 21 days. Planning another order soon.
