Default Let's play Who's That Rider! Can you identify this rider from the photo?

This will be a tough one, I think, so I'll give a few clues:

    1. This photo was taken in the 1940's.
    2. Rider is among the living.
    3. The photo was taken in Massachusetts.
    4. The rider now lives in Virginia.
    5. The rider does not ride at this time, but is involved with horses.

    So.....any guesses? Need more hints?

Even though I would have no idea who it is, I want to play! But the size of the image is a problem. If I try to zoom in, it pixelates, or whatever the word is for when it gets all blurry and blocky.

I think I can put it in a Picasa album and share the link... Just a sec.

No correct guesses yet, but I know he'd be flattered by the guesses so far. Although the rider in the photo is not Larry Jenkins, he and Rodney are close friends.

    Bobby Burke! (?)

There's another photo of him here (second down, right column). Looks like they could be the same person.

Bobby Burke is a close friend of his, but still no correct guesses. Hhhmmmm, what other clues can I give without giving it away too soon....

    He's married.
    Has children (grown, of course)
Used to drive a Cadillac, back in the day....

Did this person ride professionally and is that primarily what he is known for?

    Is Cadillac a clue?

WE HAVE A WINNER!! Way to go, vxf111! Yep, That's Daniel V. Flynn, V.M.D.! It's a shame he gave up the riding in favor of the doctoring, isn't it?

Just in case you haven't heard, there's a roast in his honor tonight at the Virginia Horse Center, 6:30-9:30, in the mezzanine above the ring in the main coliseum.

Actually, what tipped me off is what he had written on the photo. That just seemed very "him" to me.

I wish I could be there! I'm up in Philly. Maybe I'll send a card? Can you let me know what address is best?!
