Amanda will be remembered by more people than ever saw some of the great show horses of the past because she was shared through the BB.

Sabra shared her with us all, just as Robby did his hopes and dreams of Willow.

Her life may have been short but she touched us.

What a generous gift. Thank you so much, Silly Mommy.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Having just lost a lovely colt of my own, I know just how devastated you are. Maybe our two will play together over the bridge til we get there.

Oh gosh--I'm so very sorry. Its just so hard to loose these creatures. This has been a very bad month for lots of us here. Just know that many of us share your pain, and would take it away to bear ourselves if we could.

Wow! I can't believe how many responses this thread has already gotten! After losing Mandarin, I have a hard time opening the RIP threads...

I still haven't gotten any answers, but there are no other sick animals on the premises, and she hadn't been exposed to anything new - that I know of. I'm particularly interested in the tox screens--her symptoms were similar to one I knew who almost poisoned himself with the deadly red maple. We didn't think of poisoning since she has lived in the same stall, same paddock for the last six months... Just one of the ideas bouncing around.

Once again, thanks for the support - I'll keep y'all updated.

You have to be smarter than the horse, and since that will never happen, pretend you are.

I think you know that we all share your loss, and with most of have having gone through similar situations in the past, can 100% relate to how you feel ...

It does get better after awhile

I am so sorry, once again

Oh Silly Mommy, I'm so terribly sorry for your loss.

I'm sure Amanda's up galloping around with her daddy right now.

My most heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers with you right now. :'(

I'm very sorry to hear that. Losing a horse must be really tough. However - just something to think about -

there was an article my friend showed me that said Todd Pletcher recently lost three of his stakes racehorses to a strange virus within 9 days, and I believe this was in NY. So I would just watch out everyone, be very careful.

It is really scary how we can have them with us one minute and gone the next. Please do let us know of the results. Don't allow people to tell you how to feel either, and don't let them push you around. Do stuff when your ready, cry, remember them for who they were and not how they died(I still battle with that on a daily basis).

It is so hard to invest yourself emotionally so much and then to loose it. Most of us with babies have had to deal with horrible heartbreak. I wish there was something I could say to make it OK but there is not. Know that a lot of people out here on the BB do care. I am very sorry for your loss.

I found this on Chance's website(the little foal that died). Here a couple of them, they always make me cry, however they make me realize how much of a gift they are to us(so much so for me that even a year later I can't sleep at 1 am), it is a long hard road.
"They say that memories are golden, well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place, no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway, and heartache make a lane,
Id walk the path to heaven, and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."

*And another*

The Grandest Foal

"Ill lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, He said.
For you to love while shes alive
And mourn for when shes dead.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But, will you, till I take her back
Take care of her for me?
Shell bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief
Youll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But, there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
Ive looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd lifes lands
With trust I have selected you
Now will you give her your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come
To take her back again?
I know youll give her tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness youve known
Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for her
Much sooner than youd planned
Youll brave the bitter grief that comes
And someday youll understand.
For though Ill call her home to Me
This promise to you I do make
For all the love and care you gave
Shell wait for you, inside Heavens Gate"

Hope this helps some
