This is very horse related. How to fit into one's best pair of breeches by Saturday.

For 2 days, drink the following:

1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup low fat soy milk
1 cup fat free plain yogurt
1 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons wheat germ
1/4 teaspoon flax seed oil

Thrown this in a blender and have only this for 2 days. It is quite healthy and you should lose 10 pounds. Can't guarantee it will stay off but it sure works well for "big dates."

My husband and I did a "spring cleaning" fast that he read about in Yoga Journal. (I sure did feel clean!!)

This is how it went: morning, up to 12 noon, only fruit (including applesauce), but as much as you want. From noon to 8 pm, you could have fruit as well as vegetables, including potatoes. They could be raw or cooked, and you could use a little olive oil. We were roasting the vegetables, just cut some up (carrots, potatoes, onions, brocolli) but start with the ones that take longer to cook, put them in a pan and cook in the oven. (Use some olive oil). The only drinks allowed are water, herbal tea, or club soda with juice, or juice. (But you should be drinking mostly water).

Another idea is "Eat to Win" by Dr. Haas. Just ignore the non-vegan recipes, but it's basically, fruit, vegetables, grains & pasta, and very little fat and no alchohl. My husband & I did that for 28 days and felt like we could jump the moon. We were really energized and we both lost a lot of weight.

Also, you can speed up your metabolism if you exersize twice a day.

How much weight did you lose if you don't mind my asking? You can email if you'd prefer...I'm looking to drop another 20 lbs by the end of the summer and that "spring cleaning" sounds great...

My doctor told me that it is only safe and healthy to loose only 1 pound a week, I have not been able to do that! Maybe 1 every two weeks...

You really wouldn't be able to stay on it beyond the two days because you're pretty hungry by the end of the second day. I asked my Doctor about the healthy aspect of it and she indicated it wouldn't hurt you to do once a month. Whenever I feel I need to lose a few, I do it for a day and shed 5. Mind you, they sneak back when I refuel with icecream.

Is it actually possible to lose 10 pounds in 2 days, like 10 REAL pounds? I thought if you lost that much it was just water weight and would come right back. At any rate, the longer you take to lose it, the less likely it is to come back. But, if you have to fit in a dress or have a special event, go for that juice diet stuff if it works

sure it is possible! But you are risking damaging your self a lot. And if you dont do it properlly it is extra hard to get rid of it when it comes back. There is a 95% failure rate in many diets. Just be safe of you can do a LOT more harm then good.

The reason this is not "unsafe" so to speak, is the soy milk is full of calcium, protein and minerals, the orange juice is full of vitamins, the cranberry juice is the dieretic and the wheat germ is self explanatory. It is in fact "safe" to fast for short periods.

I only did the "spring cleaning" thing for 3 days (and it was harder than I expected) and I only lost about 4 pounds. But it did make me feel good. Now, when I did "Eat to Win" (or "Eat to Succeed") I lost about 15 pounds. I was very skinny for about 4 years; now I'm just "slender".

No. It is not safe. (Unless you are losing the 10 lbs by giving birth to a baby. )

I had a horrible case of colitis once where I lost an enormous amount of weight very quickly due to the disease. It took me several months to recover - I couldn't think straight, couldn't follow conversations in a loud room, and tired incredibly easily. One low point was when I was driven to the barn, and managed to walk about 100 feet to see my horse when I had to be escorted back the truck by a friend - I could barely stand, let alone walk. All because of the malnutrition.

Besides, if you want to look GOOD for someone, it's not pounds that matter, but inches. Get thee to a gym/personal trainer and get yourself buff instead!

Don't go with any lose-weight-fast plans! Just eat REALLY healthily (if you are a vegan, chances are you already do). Also, I try never to eat after like 7:00 pm (this will help you sleep better too, and good sleep = good health). DON'T deny yourself of cravings; let yourself have some M&Ms once in awhile instead of going nuts and eating the whole bag on a whim
Drink lots of water, LOTS. Exercise whenever possible, but don't make yourself just go running for hours (unless that's what you like doing). Play frisbee, go for walks, bike rides, etc. Walk places when you can; if you have to drive, park farther away from the destination.
Earlier this year, like February, I signed up at my local gym. I also started eating better and less, but didn't make any real drastic changes to my diet besides no fast food. Without TOO much effort (gym on average once or twice a week, walking, riding once a week) and without being hungry all the time, I've lost about 13 lbs! And that's without concentrating on it too much.
Good luck, I'm sure you will be able to do it.

I lost nearly 15 pounds in a month by giving up Coke. Of course, I was drinking about 5 20oz bottles every day or 2000 calories. So by giving up soda, I was actually able to eat more and still lose weight

Be sensible about weight loss. And be honest with yourself and not try to impress that certain person. You should be setting realistic goals for yourself rather than trying to impress someone else. That someone else needs to accept you for what you are on the inside as well what is on the outside. Whether you be slim and trim or a little overweight. It needs to come from within!
I have been in this boat, it works better when you do it for yourself and not for someone else and the long term effect is better, even if you backslide a bit on occassion.
My routine is the zone diet and the gym.

Well, I was told today that "i don't have 10 pounds to lose" which is disheartening as I feel like I do...I am 127 (today) and 5'7...I would LOVE to be 115 again...<SIGH>
I just started taking lessons again, first time in 3 years, and its killing me, so I guess I will be losing a bit that way...

Oh, it's possible to lose 10 pounds overnight, I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone (it involves a very bad colitis attack). And I didn't have it to lose at the time!

I have always been a fan of the sugarbusters diet, and I can lose 10 pounds in a month on that one if I am dedicated. I generally follow the diet which is more of an dietary program, but tend to stray a bit. If I gain back all my weight, I follow it religiously, and the rest of the time I follow it in moderation.

I find exercising more helps me take off weight quickly. The combination of exercise (which tightens those lazy tummy muscles) and more water (reduces bloat) makes me look trimmer.

Maybe you should devote a weekend to fencing or throwing bales? That should do the trick.
