Oh silly Heineken - if they take their socks off then you have to deal with the whole toenail issue.

Stand back, I'm armed with a purse and I'm not afraid to use it.

I love that one, and have used it recently with a group of folks who had no idea what I was talking about. Except for one person, who thereby earned my everlasting admiration.

For those who want to check out the start of that one, here's the original thread where Joliemom reminded us of the benefits of the Aunt Esther Purse, and a follow-up thread utilizing it:

That Aunt Esther stuff is priceless.

I mentioned this in another thread, but joliemom and other Aunt Esther aficionados may recall a skit on the Conan O'Brien show, from several years ago, when Robert Stack did a spoof of Unsolved Mysteries. The mystery was, "Where's Grady?" And it mirrored the show. Spooky fog, Stack in a raincoat, the whole nine. The slow-mo shot they kept repeating, over and over, was Grady getting whacked in the head with that purse. Classic.

Coreene - I am quite sure you are remembering incorrectly...

As far as ASTM helmets and numping go, to be sure when safety is considered, they are preferred, by I understand there are still those that go "hatless" so to speak... Numping on the porch: risk of splinters, especially in the case of pressure-treated lumber.

Numping with helmets: not considered traditional, but can add to the overall picture, especially in the case of the old-style Caliente with pom-pom cover.
