I am going on biz travel to Scottsdale, Arizona next week...Can anyone out there, or anyone familiar with the area, make any recommendations for good restaurants, etc.?? To keep it horse-related, tell me if there are any neat must-see horse operations to check out! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif
Thanx!!

You should check out Dynamite Dressage, my trainer has 4 or 5 horses there for the winter...

Where in Scottsdale will you be staying? I can recommend alot of great restaurants but need to know where in Scottsdale, North or Downtown?? Also, what kind of riding do you like? I can point out some places if I know what you like.I can also be a tour guide if needed. Feel free to email me if you want. xcjumper@cox.net

Maybe we can even have a mini COTH BB get-together one night? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif
The Phoenician resort is fun to check out and have a few drinks at.
Having just back to Phoenix after a week in snowy Virginia, I can definitely guarantee you some warmer, sunnier weather http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif

That sounds like fun! I will be there in long meetings all week, so I may need to get away from my biz cohorts so I don't spend each night talking *shop* with them. I will be staying near Old Town Scottsdale. I'm not even sure if I will have a car, though...I may be at the mercy of others

Just let us know when you want to get away http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif Transportation is easily taken care of, and I might even be able to persuade Mr Akro to come along if the thought of all us females is a little much http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif

xcjumper - we live in Ahwatukee, so are considerably south of you, I believe.
Where are all the other Phoenix area BBer's when you need them? It would be fun to meet more of the BB gang in person.
Mr Akro and I had the somewhat dubious pleasure of spending a week in glorious Pound, 4 miles from the Kentucky border and approx. 20 miles from Appalachia - i.e. in the middle of nowhere http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif We did get to visit Mosby's but, alas, it was the one in Wise, not the one in Middleburg http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_frown.gif

I'm in Leesburg, not far from Middleburg. I'm not familiar with Pound.

That's quite a drive, isn't it?? Ages ago, I was a young Lieutenant at Ft. Huachuca, and while I never made the drive, I heard it was a haul... http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif

Hi ponygrl - it would be great if you could make it. Maybe we can rope Reefy in also http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif Muley is another one who should be lurking around here somewhere.
Boots&Saddles - you aren't missing much, I can assure you http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif The area around Pound is mining country - beautiful, but very poor. Mr Akro's sister is a social worker there, so she has guaranteed job security. The closest airport is actually Tri Cities in Tennessee.

Tucson is about 2 hours from Phx. Not a bad drive either.
akrogirl-Yes Awatukee is VERY far from me. Its almost to Tucson http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif Also, I think Muley may be in Tucson if memory serves. Could be wrong though!!

Ft Huachuca is near Sierra Vista which is almost 2 hours from Tucson. Tucson is about 2 hours from Phoenix, but I can be indowntown mesa in under 90 minutes http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif If Tucson people want to carpool I have a lovely stinky collegekid barn car http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif
If this does go through I'd appreciate an all ages venue of sorts http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif Being of the 1983 variety.
