Default 30 Year Old Craigslist Giveaway

    http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...952325368.html

I have nothing much to say about this except that if someone can give her a home, I will go pick her up.

    Sigh.....

How sad . It sounds like she's been cared for and they'll probably really miss her. If I were close and had room I'd take her. I love old chestnut mares.

Here wel go again. People who don't want to have to put a horse down, but don't/can't afford to keep her.

OK I'm in for $ if someone can take her. For expenses, vet, whatever.

Paintpony, great of you to offer to transport the old girl.

Oh hell. She's in my neck of the woods but I have no place to keep her. I'm in for help (financial, logistics, etc), if someone can give her a soft place to land.

Do you all think we could sneak her into that nice farm where our old TB mare is now? With a couple of thousand dollars in a sack?

    Maybe no one will notice!

I just put down my 31 year old horse in February, and he was spoiled up until the end.

I board, otherwise I would be glad to give her a home.
The best I can do is offer to take her somewhere since she is in my area.

I don't want any money for the shipping/gas - I'll consider it a gift from my late horse.

I feel sorry for the horse but also for the owners. They sound like they do care about the mare but can not care for her anymore due to their own health.

Not to be a downer folks, but we don't allow the forums to be used for fundraising for non-501c3, even if it's unsolicited. We moved the thread here to Giveaways, where it's the best fit. Feel free to organize logistics here--offering a trailer ride or a giveaway halter, etc. is fine, but please avoid the creation/promotion of a "fund" for a potential adoption.

Thanks for your generosity and understanding ~

Ok so if someone would take the horse, we could take our other business to PMs for vet and care and all.

No fund, but some help, individually and off the forum.

Can no one take this old horse up there?

I'm still good for some $ to help out.

I can pitch in a few bucks if we can find a place for her.

Would be really cool if she could join this lovely lady at this gorgeous farm:

Any one in touch with the CL posters yet? Just to let them know we're trying? Would hate to see them send her off to a bad end but also don't want to get their hopes up.

Poor mare, Funny would love another senior to share stories with. The SO will donate farrier services to who ever homes her. If she is in super dire need, we can offer a temporary pit stop for her. Ex. if there is some else that will take her but needs time to arrange housing. Funny is doing great here, she has taken on a matriachial role...keeps everyone in line. I hate to see a family go through this...aging horse and care takers.

Oh wow, Bluengrey! I did not want to impose on your again! I don't want for there to be a procession of horse vans lined up on your road to dump off old horses on you!

However, I'm good for 100$ if someone can drive her over to your farm. Promise, last mare we'll dump on you!

Unless of course you want a big herd of elderly chestnut mares. This one is chestnut, isn't she? I've forgotten.

Oh and I only have someone else's paypal, so PM me your paypal if you take the old girl. But I worry that "temporarily" may be a permanent home. My ex-BO has a sound about 10 or 12 yr old chestnut appendix mare she couldn't sell that she's now giving away. No takers down here. I took her Trakehner mare last June as she could not be sold.

So if you take this 30 yr old mare, be warned you will 99% be stuck with her.

And I am so happy that Funny is doing so well. Thank you for taking her and letting her live out her life as the queen of the herd there.

I'm wondering about that too! I've been sharing out this mare on email list groups and Facebook and have one person inquiring as to where to send a donation.

So, has anyone contacted the CL poster?
