    Default Ring around the tub/toilet?

I keep a clean house but I can't get rid of the freaking ring around the bathtub or the toilet no matter how hard I scrub or how often I clean it.

    Any product suggestions?

I think it has to do with how hard your water is. No suggestions, sorry.

I once heard that Mayonnaise would get rid of it. But I Mayonnaise disgusts me so I haven't ever tried it. (Plus kinds sounds like an old wive's tale..)

I have had good luck with the Magic Erasers for the Shower/Tub- but it takes some serious scrubbing and elbow grease!

Try CLR Kitchen and Bath or, if the ring is orange, Iron-out.

We do have hard water, but it's an apartment and the ring wasn't there before so someone got their ring off.

Ammonia works on grease. Vinegar plus elbow grease works on lime.

    CLR on the tub.
For the toilet, go to a hardware store and get a pumice stone. They sell ones with a handle. They remove lime/calcium but don't scratch the porcelin.

Another vote for the bath/kitchen pumice stone. It's been the only thing that's worked for me in a couple of hard water situations. Wear gloves, they are rough on your hands.

We have very hard (well) water, and coupled with a leaky toilet several months back...I ended up with a "smear" of calcium build up from the offending trickle. I tried everything, CLR included, and what finally worked for me was this type of metal mesh that I picked up a Lowe's. It's specifically for scrubbing off the calcium/lime/iron deposits and it literally took me less than a minute to scrub the stain off! Now that the toilet is fixed, the stain has not returned. I also use these cleaning tablets that you put in your tank. I also get those at Lowe's in a gray bucket with a yellow lid. Each one works for 3 months, and they are great!

We used to live in an area with very hard water, and Whink* products pretty much took care of them. The rust stain remover (brown bottle) was especially effective.
